After I Transmigrated as a Fake Young Master, I Refused to Play Nice - Chapter 2:
Chapter 2: The Cold Sister.
The Qingshan Psychiatric Hospital was quiet in the early morning. In truth, it was quiet most of the time.
Within Lu Shaoyan’s line of sight, only a handful of patients remained immersed in their own worlds. Beyond the bright windows lay green mountains and clear waters. Objectively speaking, this place wasn’t bad.
But he didn’t like it at all.
The fresh air eased his mood slightly, yet the flood of memories in his mind left him deeply irritated.
Lu Shaoyan took one last drag of his cigarette, then casually tossed it onto the ground. Muttering to himself, he said, “You really lived a pathetic life… but that won’t happen anymore.”
He had transmigrated, but into the body of a complete loser… who also happened to be named Lu Shaoyan.
On a bright and breezy morning, after leaving the rented apartment of two wild girls while sipping a sugary drink, he had been sent here by a pink dump truck.
What rotten luck.
Even with all the street-honed reflexes he had developed from years of struggle, he still couldn’t avoid that sudden collision.
All he could say was that when it came to sending people off, those trucks were professionals.
Ask them, and they’ll say they didn’t see it. Ask again, and they’ll say they couldn’t brake in time. Ask a third time, and they’ll say it wasn’t easy. Keep asking, and they’ll sigh about how hard life is, before finally telling you to talk to their insurance.
Damn it. Just because your life isn’t easy doesn’t mean you get to kill someone else.
This Lu Shaoyan shared his name, but not his fate. He himself had been an orphan, a drifter in society.
The other one, however, had been the eldest young master of the prestigious Lu family in Shen City.
Well… that was before Lu Yunhai appeared. After that, he became the despised, abandoned fake young master.
In just half a month, Lu Yunhai and the Lu family had begun acting out scenes of filial devotion and familial harmony.
Meanwhile, the silent and withdrawn fake young master became increasingly unwelcome.
Under Lu Yunhai’s “schemes,” he had even taken the blame for many things.
Until that day, when he and Lu Yunhai were going downstairs together, Lu Yunhai suddenly tumbled down the stairs.
After “losing consciousness” for half a day, Lu Yunhai woke up with a hesitant, cautious expression as he looked at him.
That alone was enough to make their mother, Liu Yun, erupt in fury.
Everyone suspected it had been intentional.
That he had pushed Lu Yunhai out of jealousy.
How classic.
Lu Yunhai’s acting was impeccable. Even without saying a word, that expression alone was enough to make Lu Shaoyan wonder if the original him had truly harbored resentment and pushed him down the stairs.
What a scheming hypocrite.
Men could be just as vicious in their deceit. When men started playing those games, even many women would fall short.
And so, he had been sent to Qingshan Psychiatric Hospital for “treatment.”
In reality, it was punishment.
Three months of inhumane torment had made him even more timid and cowardly.
Electroshock, isolation, starvation, sleep deprivation… countless forms of torture, along with being forgotten by everyone, had driven the original owner to the brink of despair.
Tsk.
The cold nights and warm days slowly wore down one’s lifespan.
For the original him, living was torment.
In Lu Shaoyan’s eyes, it was simply weakness.
Since he was here now, the ones who should suffer would be others.
There were too many “young masters” in this world. One was enough.
Then there would be no need to distinguish between real and fake.
As that thought passed through his mind, a faint glint flickered in his dark eyes.
At that moment, a man in a white coat hurried around the corner of the corridor. When he saw Lu Shaoyan standing alone at the staircase in the lobby, he froze briefly before his expression turned cold, “Why are you here alone? Where’s Liu Bin?”
Lu Shaoyan’s gaze shifted to the man—Wang Hai.
The hospital orderly who had “taken care” of him the most. Because of his connection to Doctor Wang Hao, he held some authority within Qingshan.
No matter where you went, there were always circles and privileges.
Wang Hai found it strange that Lu Shaoyan was here. Shouldn’t he still be in the “treatment room”?
That was why he had rushed over in the first place.
But he didn’t dwell on it for long. With impatience, he said, “Lu Shaoyan, come with me. Someone’s here to see you.”
After saying that, he turned and walked away, still muttering under his breath, ‘Damn it, what’s with that woman acting all high and mighty? Just because she has money, she gets privileges. Shows up whenever she wants without even giving a heads-up. You rich bastards…’
Lu Shaoyan quietly watched Wang Hai’s back as he cursed, saying nothing.
Everyone hated the rich… unless they themselves were rich.
He knew Wang Hai didn’t truly hate privilege. He hated that he wasn’t part of it.
For three months, Wang Hai had vented that frustration on him.
Being able to trample the once untouchable young master of the Lu family beneath his feet gave him a twisted sense of satisfaction and excitement.
“You should thank them.”
Lu Shaoyan’s sudden words made Wang Hai frown. Thank them?
Why?
He turned around, glaring at Lu Shaoyan, but the moment their eyes met, his heart jolted.
There was something unsettling about Lu Shaoyan’s gaze… even a faint, instinctive fear. But he quickly brushed it off.
“Thank your sister. You lunatic should be thanking me. If it weren’t for me, you would’ve starved to death in the isolation room last time…”
Though he was still cursing, his voice had unconsciously softened.
Lu Shaoyan didn’t respond.
Wang Hai really should thank the person who came to see him. That person had just saved Wang Hai’s miserable life… at least for now.
If not for them, Lu Shaoyan wouldn’t have minded “repaying” him on the spot.
The isolation room was only supposed to be used for a maximum of four hours, yet Wang Hai often left him locked inside for an entire day.
Yes… he really should thank him.
Wang Hai’s words also confirmed that someone from the Lu family had arrived. As for who it was or why they had come, he didn’t know.
But he wasn’t in a hurry.
Outside the director’s office, Wang Hai didn’t go in. Instead, he said, “Go on in. Someone’s here to see you.”
As Lu Shaoyan pushed the door open, he suddenly said to Wang Hai beside him, “Thank you, Attendant Wang.”
Wang Hai froze for a moment, then spat, “Tch, what are you thanking me for? Are you sick in the head?”
Lu Shaoyan merely smiled and stepped inside.
Wang Hai, however, clenched his fists unconsciously.
Was this guy getting even crazier?
And why did that look make his heart feel uneasy?
He spat on the ground and stopped thinking about it.
Inside the spacious, brightly lit office, the usually stern Director Xu was bent over, pouring water for the woman seated on the sofa.
A gentle smile rested on his face.
The woman, however, remained expressionless. Her cold yet beautiful face carried a trace of impatience.
Her casual trousers, stretched taut across her crossed legs, subtly emphasized their curves.
As Lu Shaoyan entered, Xu Yi immediately said, “Miss Lu, your younger brother… Lu Shaoyan is here.”
He corrected himself mid-sentence. It seemed that Lu Qingyan didn’t like the term “younger brother.” It made him realize just how unwelcome Lu Shaoyan was within the Lu family.
Wealth truly nurtured people. The Lu family’s children were all blessed with good looks.
Lu Qingyan’s slightly furrowed brows didn’t relax. Instead, she looked at Lu Shaoyan with displeasure, “Why have you lost so much weight?”
Xu Yi felt a bit awkward, unsure how to explain, but before he could speak, Lu Qingyan had already stood up and walked over.
Her cold eyes fixed on Lu Shaoyan as she examined him in silence.
The faint, cool fragrance around her filled his senses. Lu Shaoyan swallowed.
He was hungry.
At Qingshan, Wang Hai had never let him eat his fill.
Lu Qingyan, the eldest daughter of the Lu family… and once his sister.
A typical strong, successful woman. After graduation, she hadn’t joined the Lu Group. Instead, she had taken a “small goal” from the family—500 million yuan—and started her own cosmetics company.
Even so, she was considered a role model among Shen City’s elite for not relying on her family.
In just a year or two, she had doubled or tripled that amount.
A favored daughter of heaven.
He, on the other hand, had once bought a pair of gloves for 2 yuan and climbed buildings all day to earn over 800 yuan.
That was a 400-fold return… yet no one praised him.
When rich people did anything, even their farts were considered fragrant.
Seeing Lu Shaoyan looking at her so directly, Lu Qingyan unconsciously adjusted her posture.
He had never looked at her like this before.
It even made her feel a little unfamiliar. With a hint of displeasure, she said, “Cat got your tongue?”
Lu Shaoyan recalled his relationship with this elder sister. They hadn’t been close growing up, and her attitude toward him had always been cold.
After Lu Yunhai appeared, she became even more distant.
Later, as her company grew busier, she barely returned home at all.
Before he was sent to Qingshan, he had heard from Lu Keran that she had gone abroad on a business trip.
This seemingly cold and detached eldest daughter hadn’t humiliated him much after the real-and-fake young master incident.
She had always been distant and indifferent… and remained the same afterward.
In that sense, she was more consistent than many of the servants in the household.
“I’m not sure how I should address you.”
“Miss Lu?”
Lu Shaoyan spoke lightly, even with a hint of self-mockery.
Lu Qingyan frowned slightly, as if she wanted to glare at him. She seemed about to say something, but in the end, she held back.
Instead, she simply said, “Come home with me.”
Lu Shaoyan hadn’t expected to return to the Lu family so soon, but he had no intention of refusing.
He didn’t want to stay in this place for even a single extra day.
