Chapter 83: You’ve Made Your Move, Now It’s My Turn!

“Yes! I choose you next! You’re the only one here whose eyes show no fear.”

The Spirit Ape stared at Bai Ying with extreme excitement, clearly very interested in her.

It loved people who pretended to be calm. When it finally killed them, the fear in their eyes would be the sweetest reward.

A bloodthirsty smile appeared on the Spirit Ape’s face. “I’m going to enjoy tormenting you!”

However, instead of being afraid, Bai Ying raised the corners of her lips slightly.

“Choosing me might cost you your life.”

“Hahahahaha!” The Spirit Ape laughed as if it had heard the funniest joke in the world. “Little girl, you have a big mouth for someone so young! I’d like to see how you’re going to kill me!”

“Alright, I’ll show you right now!”

Bai Ying walked step by step toward the Spirit Ape. But after only two steps, someone pulled her back.

“Are you crazy? Quickly apologize!” Gu Qingzhou rushed over, grabbing Bai Ying, his face full of panic.

He was terrified that Bai Ying’s words would enrage the Spirit Ape and, even worse, drag him down with her.

Even though they might all die here, there was still a sliver of hope.

Maybe the Spirit Ape just wanted to toy with them and not actually kill them?

But Bai Ying’s words would clearly provoke it into killing!

She might cut off their last chance at survival!

The other people present also looked furious. Too afraid to confront the Spirit Ape themselves, they turned their anger toward Bai Ying.

“Apologize quickly! Who do you think you are, daring to provoke a Nascent Soul Realm beast?”

“It’s fine if you want to die, but don’t drag us down with you!”

“Spirit Ape, if you want to kill someone, kill her! She has nothing to do with us!”

However, in the next instant, the few people who had just been scolding Bai Ying were suddenly grabbed by the Spirit Ape’s long arm and hauled over without mercy.

The Spirit Ape raised them high and smashed them into the ground like a hammer striking an anvil. “So annoying!”

“Pu!” With a muffled thud, all of them spat out blood on the spot.

Among them, Gu Qingzhou suffered the most. Because he had been the first to try to stop Bai Ying, the Spirit Ape held a particular grudge against him.

When smashing him, it used double the force it had used on the others.

Gu Qingzhou felt an overwhelming force slam into him, like being crushed by a mountain. His face turned deathly pale, and his facial features twisted from the excruciating pain.

The agony was unbearable, as if every bone in his body had shattered, every inch of his skin and every cell screaming in misery.

He lay on the ground, trembling, blood gushing from his mouth, barely hanging onto life.

The Spirit Ape looked proudly at everyone.

“If anyone speaks again, I’ll kill him on the spot!”

Everyone immediately fell silent, not daring to utter a sound.

But they all looked at Bai Ying as if she were a plague, avoiding her like the devil.

Their bodies shook with fear, not daring to even look at the Spirit Ape directly.

Only Yuan Shijie whispered to Bai Ying, “Be careful.”

Bai Ying nodded calmly. “Don’t worry. I’ll be fine.”

Yuan Shijie also nodded, although worried, he had seen Bai Ying’s true strength and didn’t believe she would lose easily.

Yet even this small act made the surrounding crowd full of sneering mockery.

They had seen arrogance before, but none so absurd as this.

“Be careful”? “I’ll be fine”?

Once the Spirit Ape slapped her, she would know whether she would be fine!

Some malicious cultivators even hoped the Spirit Ape would teach Bai Ying a good lesson, to make her realize how weak she really was.

So many peak Foundation Establishment Realm experts had been turned into punching bags.

Did she think she could do better?

Bai Ying calmly drew her sword and pointed it at the Spirit Ape.

The Spirit Ape grinned wickedly, its gaze full of chilling amusement.

It opened its mouth wide, exposing its sharp fangs, and spewed out a torrent of raging fire at Bai Ying, just as it had done to the previous cultivators.

In an instant, the flames surged up like a monstrous beast, engulfing Bai Ying completely.

The fire was even more intense than before, roaring up to the sky as if to set the entire world ablaze.

The air twisted under the terrifying heat.

Bai Ying stood in the center of the firestorm, seemingly about to be consumed at any moment.

The Spirit Ape laughed wildly, eagerly waiting for Bai Ying to scream and beg for mercy like the others.

Even the cultivators present thought Bai Ying would soon be rolling on the ground in agony.

But to their shock, Bai Ying remained completely calm, walking step by step through the flames, completely unaffected.

“How is that possible?!”

Gasps of disbelief echoed.

Not just the cultivators—even the Spirit Ape was stunned.

Others might not know, but the Spirit Ape knew very well how terrifying its spiritual fire was.

It didn’t just burn the body, but also scorched the soul.

Anyone touched by it would suffer unbearable pain.

What was happening? Was this girl simply enduring the pain?

The Spirit Ape quickly pulled back its fire, wanting to see her condition.

But to its shock, Bai Ying stood there without the slightest trace of being burned.

Even her clothes were perfectly intact.

It was as if an invisible shield had blocked all the fire from touching her.

The Spirit Ape’s face darkened. “How did you do that?”

Bai Ying casually took out a bead. “When I left my sect, my Master gave me a Fire-Repelling Pearl.”

So that was it!

Everyone else let out a breath of relief.

They had wondered how an early Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator could withstand the fire—it was thanks to a special treasure.

But the Spirit Ape had more than just fire.

Without fire, it could still easily crush her!

The Spirit Ape clearly thought the same.

With a fierce swing of its long arm, it grabbed Bai Ying by the shoulder, intending to slam her into the ground.

But to its horror, it found itself unable to move her.

Touching Bai Ying felt like grabbing a mountain.

No matter how hard it pulled, it couldn’t lift her at all.

The Spirit Ape’s face turned red with exertion, and finally a dark purple, but Bai Ying didn’t budge even an inch.

Sweat poured down the Spirit Ape’s forehead.

Meanwhile, Bai Ying looked at it calmly, smiling lightly.

“You’ve made your move,” Bai Ying said softly. “Now, it’s my turn.”
