Fairy, Please Stop Coming Out of the Novel - Chapter 2:
Chapter 2: Do You Even Know What Love Is?
The iron door let out a long, grating screech.
Click. The dim light flickered on.
Inside the twenty-square-meter single room, there was only a bed, a simple wardrobe, and a battered computer desk. At the foot of the bed sat a large suitcase. Other than that, there was nothing else.
Because of the dampness, much of the paint on the walls had peeled off. Spiderwebs were visible everywhere. A pothos plant on the windowsill had climbed along the security bars, covering more than half of them, adding a faint touch of life to the empty and shabby room.
“This is your cave dwelling?”
“You could say that.”
Jiang Fan gave an awkward smile.
Others might be puzzled by such an unfamiliar term, but as an online writer, he understood clearly what “cave dwelling” meant.
The room might not be large, but the environment was far from ideal.
Even so, despite its many flaws, this place still had its merits. The rent was cheap enough.
1000 yuan a month, utilities not included.
In all of Xiling, it was hard to find a place at this price.
Seeing Jiang Fan admit it, Luo Xian’s brows knitted slightly. “As a creator of worlds, having no cultivation at all can be overlooked. In your world, spiritual energy is exhausted. Even with monstrous talent, achieving anything in such an environment would be extremely difficult.”
“Setting cultivation aside, it seems even your most basic needs of food and clothing are a problem. To be honest, I am beginning to doubt whether I found the wrong person. No matter how incompetent a creator may be, it should not be to the point of being as miserable as you.”
“?”
“!!!”
After a brief moment of confusion, Jiang Fan widened his eyes. It took him quite a while before he blushed red and squeezed out a sentence. “The way you talk… is a bit too harsh!”
Luo Xian said nothing.
Jiang Fan felt stifled. “I am not some creator of worlds. I am just an online writer. Writing web novels is merely a skill I rely on to make a living. Nothing more.”
“Online writer?”
A flicker passed through Luo Xian’s eyes. “What does that mean?”
Jiang Fan did not know how to explain it to her.
After thinking for a while, he finally organized his thoughts. It took a full ten minutes of explanation before Luo Xian roughly understood what an online writer was.
“To create an entire world out of thin air with nothing but words? How wondrous…”
The shock in Jiang Fan’s heart had not completely faded. After all, a character from a novel appearing in reality was too absurd. As he gradually accepted the fact, he secretly observed Luo Xian, feeling both admiration and a trace of pride.
As expected of the female lead I wrote. This face, this temperament, this figure…
Especially those jade-like feet resting on the floor. Tsk.
In his previous novels, when describing the female lead, Jiang Fan often used the term jade feet. Many readers had complained in the comments that he was obsessed with jade feet.
Only today did he understand what true jade feet were.
Naturally carved like jade, pure feet untouched by dust.
After his admiration came confusion.
Why was Luo Xian barefoot?
“Do they look good?”
Jiang Fan hurriedly averted his gaze. “On the surface, I was looking at your feet. In reality, I was trying to understand your past. By looking at your feet, I can see the roads you have walked…”
The more he spoke, the softer his voice became.
The more he spoke, the less confident he sounded.
Luo Xian’s eyes grew cold, like a block of ice that had lasted ten thousand years.
Jiang Fan quickly changed the subject. “Why did you leave the novel instead of staying inside it?”
Her gaze sharpened like a blade. “You do not know why I came out?”
Jiang Fan looked bewildered. “If you do not tell me, how would I know?”
At that, a ripple of emotion appeared in Luo Xian’s expression. “As a creator, could you not focus on maintaining the world you wrote? Why did you write that I secretly developed feelings for Lin Xiaotian?”
With a thought, the Ice Glass Sword appeared in her hand. In the next second, it was pressed against Jiang Fan’s throat. “You had better give me a reasonable explanation.”
The cold air from the Ice Glass Sword made Jiang Fan’s scalp tingle. “You were besieged in the Celestial Radiant Secret Realm. Lin Xiaotian saved you at a critical moment. That is called a hero saving a beauty. It is only natural for you to develop feelings for him. What is wrong with that?”
“Cliché.”
“What?”
As an online writer, having the plot he designed evaluated like this by his own character was deeply humiliating.
“If you do not understand, do not speak nonsense, alright?”
“How is a hero saving a beauty cliché?”
“Do you even know what love is?”
The barrage of sharp questions left Luo Xian slightly surprised. “Do you?”
“Of course.”
Jiang Fan straightened his chest. “As a veteran author who has completed four romance novels, I understand love thoroughly. You, who have no experience in romance at all, dare to question me. Where did you get the courage?”
Luo Xian withdrew the Ice Glass Sword and suddenly changed the topic. “May I see the four worlds you created before?”
Jiang Fan was stunned.
In truth, the moment he finished boasting earlier, he regretted it. No one understood the personality of his own female lead better than he did.
Decisive and ruthless.
He had thought that after his sarcastic remarks, he would likely be stabbed to death by Luo Xian, or at least taught a lesson. He had not expected this reaction.
“Wait a moment.”
Jiang Fan opened the suitcase and took out his laptop. He found the four completed manuscripts in a folder and moved aside. When Luo Xian stepped in front of the computer, he taught her how to use the mouse.
Luo Xian learned extremely quickly. After listening to Jiang Fan’s explanation, she was only unfamiliar for a few seconds before her movements became visibly smooth.
The sight left Jiang Fan clicking his tongue in amazement.
Luo Xian casually opened one of the novels. Her gaze was focused. No, more accurately, she was scanning.
A chapter of over two thousand words took her only four or five seconds to finish. Her hand controlled the mouse wheel rapidly, never pausing for even a second. In less than half an hour, she had finished a novel of nearly one million words.
Jiang Fan was dumbfounded.
He had spent almost a year writing that novel, and Luo Xian finished it in under half an hour?
But considering her origins, he quickly felt it made sense.
“So? What do you think?”
Luo Xian looked puzzled. “Think about what?”
“The romantic interactions between the protagonist and female lead.”
Meeting Jiang Fan’s expectant gaze, Luo Xian gave her evaluation. “Very awkward. And overly melodramatic.”
“…”
A novel of nearly one million words had already given Luo Xian a preliminary understanding of the culture of this unfamiliar world.
“You… keep reading.”
Twenty minutes later, Luo Xian’s evaluation of the second novel was only four words. “Indeed melodramatic.”
The third one was extremely melodramatic.
The fourth one was unbearably melodramatic.
Jiang Fan’s face was full of dark lines. “Y-You… besides saying melodramatic, do you know any other words?”
“I am only stating facts.”
After reading the four novels, Luo Xian understood this world even better. Her light remark left Jiang Fan speechless.
Then her tone shifted. “However, compared to the previous melodramatic plots, this time the hero-saving-the-beauty scenario shows some improvement. It is cliché, but at least not overly melodramatic.”
This review pushed Jiang Fan’s frustration to the extreme.
This Luo Xian…
Her little mouth was sharper than poison.
