Chapter 77: Does His Royal Highness Need Your Lessons?:

Faced with Li Junting’s threats, Ling Kong remained calm and unbothered.

Whether or not Luo Lin was present in Black Rain City, he had nothing to fear. Even without using his full power, he could rival the Spirit King Realm cultivator or potentially even break into the Venerable Realm. With just the Heavenly Ghostly Fragment, his strength was already comparable to the Mysterious Spirit Realm.

“I suppose you’ve given me a perfect display of what it means to be a petty villain.” Ling Kong said casually.

Li Junting’s expression darkened. “And what if the villain succeeds? Here in Black Rain City, I can beat you as I please.”

He then sneered. “You won’t pay? Won’t apologize? Fine, then—time to show you how things are done around here. Get him!”

At his command, Li Junting’s followers rushed at Ling Kong. Ling Kong responded with a faint smile as black flames erupted around him, fueled by the power of the Heavenly Ghostly. These weren’t mere opponents; they were Spirit Martial Realm cultivators at the 2nd and 3rd stages.

Jiang Ruoxi stepped back, holding Xue’er tightly.

She knew Ling Kong could handle it. The power of the Heavenly Ghostly was formidable, and as black flames surged around him, Ling Kong leaped forward. His first punch sent the leading attacker crashing through the window, landing hard on the street below.

Outside, curious onlookers gathered. “Did someone just take on the City Lord’s people?” murmurs rippled through the crowd. “Who dares to fight them?”

Inside, the battle continued.

One after another, Li Junting’s followers were hurled out of the building. The restaurant quickly turned into a wreck, with debris scattered everywhere. The owner and staff hid, trembling. No one challenged the City Lord’s Mansion and lived to tell the tale.

Meanwhile, Li Junting and Xia Yuran retreated, shock evident on their faces.

How could this be? Ling Kong, supposedly a mere 1st stage Spirit Martial Realm cultivator, was effortlessly defeating their strongest followers. Was he hiding his true strength?

A final resounding crash marked the defeat of the last attacker. The room fell silent as all of Li Junting’s men lay motionless on the ground. Li Junting’s confidence crumbled as he realized the gap between him and Ling Kong was insurmountable.

How could a mere disciple of the Sword Cloud Sect possess such overwhelming strength?

Xia Yuran was equally stunned. She had underestimated him, thinking he was just a skilled fellow disciple. But Ling Kong’s true power was something else entirely—far beyond her reach. Her regret deepened as she watched him effortlessly triumph, his demeanor that of an unchallenged king.

“You said you’d take me down, didn’t you?” Ling Kong approached Li Junting, his steps deliberate.

Li Junting’s throat went dry, his eyes darting away. He had no doubt that if Ling Kong decided to attack, he wouldn’t stand a chance.

Just then, a group of reinforcements burst in—all from the Li family, led by a bald-headed man, the captain of the local patrol and a 1st stage Mysterious Spirit Realm practitioner.

“Why are you only arriving now?” Li Junting demanded, relief momentarily washing over him.

“We came as quickly as we could, Young City Lord,” the bald man replied, bowing.

“Enough! Take him down, now!” Li Junting commanded.

The bald man nodded and lunged at Ling Kong. His fist, blazing with fiery-red energy, tore through the air like a raging inferno, aiming directly at Ling Kong.

Ling Kong met the attack head-on, his own power surging. With a deafening impact, their fists collided, sending shockwaves through the already-ruined restaurant. Black and fiery-red energy clashed, causing the building to shake and collapse.

The bald man was sent flying, crashing through the debris.

Seeing this, Li Junting’s eyes widened in disbelief. How could Ling Kong possibly repel someone from the Mysterious Spirit Realm?

“This isn’t possible!” Li Junting shouted, panic creeping in. A month ago, Ling Kong was at the 9th stage Tempering Spirit Realm. How could he now rival a Mysterious Spirit Realm master?

“Take him down!” Li Junting yelled desperately.

“Young City Lord, there’s something unusual about him,” the bald man warned, eyeing Ling Kong warily.

“I don’t care! Do whatever it takes! No holding back!” Li Junting barked.

The bald man nodded, unleashing all his power. Flames and spiritual energy erupted around him as he charged again. But Ling Kong merely smiled, ready to test the limits of his power. Black flames surged as he met the attack head-on once more.

The two clashed in a blur of power, shockwaves rippling outward. Dust and debris filled the air as their battle intensified. The remaining Li family subordinates stayed back—this level of combat was far beyond them.

Under the dark night sky, Ling Kong and the bald-headed man clashed fiercely amid the debris and ruins of the street. Their battle was intense, drawing the attention of everyone nearby. Crowds gathered from every direction, their faces filled with confusion and curiosity.

“What’s going on? Why is someone fighting the patrol captain?” someone murmured.

“Who’s that guy daring to fight against the City Lord’s people?”

“Must’ve offended the young city lord. Poor soul. No one gets out of Black Rain City alive after that.”

The onlookers shook their heads and sighed. In Black Rain City, challenging the City Lord’s Mansion meant certain doom.

Meanwhile, Li Junting stared at the chaotic battle with shock visible all over his face. He couldn’t believe what he was witnessing. Ling Kong had combat power comparable to that of the Mysterious Spirit Realm. The patrol captain didn’t stand a chance. How could Ling Kong be this strong? He had underestimated him all along.

Li Junting’s fists clenched tightly. The difference between himself and Ling Kong was painfully clear. They were of similar age, yet Ling Kong was leagues ahead. At only seventeen years old, Ling Kong possessed strength that could rival masters. How far could he go in the future? The Spirit King Realm? The Venerable Realm? Or even beyond?

Beside him, Xia Yuran was just as stunned. Though she wasn’t sure of the bald man’s exact strength, she knew it was far greater than hers. Ling Kong’s display of power shattered her understanding once again. What kind of terrifying talent did he possess?

Her gaze shifted to Jiang Ruoxi, who stood quietly holding the Ice Phantom Wolf cub. Jealousy welled up in her. Such an exceptional man should have been hers, not Jiang Ruoxi’s. She had once believed she could surpass Ling Kong and win him back. But now, faced with his overwhelming strength, despair gripped her heart.

No matter how hard she tried, she would never catch up to Ling Kong. He would never see her the way she wished. While she would forever look up to him, longing for his return, he would always be beyond her reach.

Just then, a commotion stirred at the end of the street. Zhang Yuding and Li Duoxiong arrived with a contingent from the City Lord’s Mansion. They had come to investigate the disturbance.

“Interesting,” Li Duoxiong mused, watching the fight unfold. “It’s been a while since anyone dared challenge the City Lord’s Mansion.”

Zhang Yuding’s eyes landed on Ling Kong, and his face paled in shock. “Is that… Ling Kong? His Royal Highness?”

As an imperial official, Zhang Yuding recognized Ling Kong immediately. If the prince was here, it meant Luo Lin was likely nearby.

“Stop!” Zhang Yuding roared, his voice echoing across the street. In a flash, he leapt between Ling Kong and the bald man, striking the latter with a single powerful palm. The bald man flew backward, crashing to the ground and skidding across the street before coming to a stop, unconscious.

The crowd fell silent, staring at the fallen patrol captain in disbelief. He had been defeated with a single strike.

“Isn’t that the Mysterious Spirit Realm captain?” someone whispered.

Their eyes shifted to Zhang Yuding, standing protectively before Ling Kong. What was going on? Why would an imperial official attack the City Lord’s men?

Li Junting, still in shock, demanded, “Who are you to interfere with the City Lord’s Mansion?”

“Heh, Master Zhang, what’s the meaning of this?” Li Duoxiong asked, stepping forward.

Seeing his father, Li Junting felt emboldened. “Father, this guy is causing trouble in Black Rain City! I was just trying to deal with him.”

“Silence!” Zhang Yuding bellowed, turning to face Ling Kong. He knelt on one knee, his voice reverent. “Chen Zhang Yuding greets Your Highness!”

The entire street fell into a stunned silence.

His Highness? A prince?

Ling Kong was a prince of the imperial family?

Li Duoxiong’s smile faded as he processed the revelation. The prince had come to Black Rain City. Fear tightened around his chest.

Li Junting stared at Ling Kong, his mind reeling.

A prince? This couldn’t be true. But as realization sank in, panic and confusion overtook him.

Xia Yuran’s eyes remained fixed on Ling Kong, her mouth slightly agape. The man she had once been so close to, the one she still deeply cared for, was a prince?

This was his true identity.

She had lost not just a man but a prince.
