Chapter 41: Wang Dajuan Can’t Handle Losing

On the other side, Su Yuebai had been waiting at the entrance for a long time, but Zhang Xiaofeng never showed up. Her heart ached. She had already realized that Zhang Xiaofeng was avoiding her and had taken another exit to leave. Did he really hate seeing her that much? Bitterness filled Su Yuebai’s chest.

Left with no other choice, she had to listen to Grandma’s advice and return home. Originally, she had thought that bringing Grandma along would definitely convince Zhang Xiaofeng to come back, but things had still ended up like this. Su Yuebai felt as though her heart could no longer bear the pain.

Back home, Wang Dajuan was sprawled lazily on the sofa, playing mobile games, looking as relaxed as ever. Su Yuebai wanted to say something, but in the end, she said nothing. She just sat on the living room sofa and tried calling Zhang Xiaofeng again.

She didn’t want to give up, especially now that she had a child in her belly. It was another internet call, and the “beep… beep…” echoed in her ears. With every tone, her heart grew tighter with anxiety. She was terrified that he wouldn’t answer.

Moments later, a cold mechanical voice came through the line, “Sorry, the number you dialed is currently on another call. Please try again later…” The automated response crushed her last hope, and her tears began to fall, one drop after another.

She dialed again, but this time the mechanical voice came instantly, “Sorry, the number you dialed is currently on another call…” Su Yuebai looked up in anguish, her eyes blank and tears streaming down as she stared at Wang Dajuan.

Wang Dajuan, still engrossed in her game, suddenly noticed Su Yuebai’s strange expression and, already guessing what had happened, frowned and asked, “Xiaoyue, who are you calling?”

Wiping away her tears, Su Yuebai said, “I’m calling Xiaofeng. Mom, can’t you just let him come back? Our company can’t function without him. I also don’t want to be a single mom…”

Wang Dajuan’s expression turned serious as she said, “You really can’t live without him? He dared to flip our table. Who knows what else he’s capable of? I won’t allow him to return!”

Su Yuebai didn’t know what to say. Still, her fingers didn’t stop—she kept calling Zhang Xiaofeng. She couldn’t bring herself to give up. No matter how many times she had to call, she had to get him back.

Finally, after being rejected countless times, the call unexpectedly went through.

“Hello, Su, can you f*cking stop bothering me? You’re blocking my line, you know that!?”

Zhang Xiaofeng’s voice was full of anger. He was currently eating in a restaurant, and his phone had been ringing non-stop. He needed to use his phone now and couldn’t turn it off or block unknown numbers. His boss had recently been calling from a landline.

“Hubby, I was wrong. Please come back. I want you to come back… please?” Su Yuebai sobbed with a broken heart.

Before Zhang Xiaofeng could respond, Wang Dajuan snatched the phone from Su Yuebai’s hand and shouted, “Zhang Xiaofeng! If you’ve got guts, don’t come back! I’ve never liked you! You’re just a broke loser—what makes you think you deserve our wealth? You want to marry into our family without spending a dime? Dream on!”

Zhang Xiaofeng almost laughed in disbelief. Marry without spending a dime? I’m the live-in son-in-law! Should I have paid to join your family? That’s hilarious!

Even if we took ten thousand steps back, it was your daughter who begged me to marry in! Your family had no sons and didn’t want your future grandchild to carry a different surname. Was it my idea to join? Ridiculous!

He didn’t hold back anymore and directly shouted her name, “Wang Dajuan! I used to show you respect as my mother-in-law, but now? Who the hell do you think you are? Get as far away from me as possible. I never wanted to go back anyway. No need for you to remind me!”

“Hahaha! That’s even better! If you dare come back, you’re spineless!” Wang Dajuan shouted.

“Don’t worry. When I say I won’t go back, I mean it. I’m earning 20,000 yuan a month now. You think I’d crawl back? What a joke!”

Wang Dajuan sneered, full of disdain, “That’s your confidence? That’s laughable! 20,000 yuan a month? That’s only 240,000 yuan a year if you don’t spend a single cent. In ten years, that’s just 2.4 million. In a hundred years, 24 million. Our family has over 90 million! You couldn’t earn that in three lifetimes!”

At the restaurant, Zhang Xiaofeng laughed coldly. Was this woman stupid or just crazy? Your so-called 90 million includes the value of your company, villa, and vehicles. But your debt ratio is sky-high. Your actual net worth isn’t much—most of it’s just on paper. You really think you’re that rich?

If your business partners default in large numbers, you’ll lose everything. By then, will you still have 90 million? Breaking even on assets and liabilities would already be your best-case scenario. You might even end up penniless and deeply in debt. Hahaha!

Thinking of that made Zhang Xiaofeng laugh again. Then he calmly said, “As long as you’re happy. One more thing—don’t come crying when someone wipes your whole family out.”

Just thinking of Su Mingxin made Zhang Xiaofeng laugh harder. Every time that greedy man visited the Su household, his eyes lit up with lust for everything. Zhang Xiaofeng had noticed the greed and hunger in his gaze—it was obvious to an outsider like him.

He clearly remembered one time Su Mingxin stared at their villa with his mouth practically watering, drooling like a dog. It disgusted Zhang Xiaofeng. Hadn’t he ever seen a villa before? Even the shabby area I lived in was better than this disgusting behavior. He found Su Mingxin revolting.

Wang Dajuan was so enraged by Zhang Xiaofeng’s words that her forehead throbbed. She snapped, “So what if we get wiped out? That’s still better than giving it to an outsider like you! We all share the same surname—no matter what, everything will stay under the Su name!”

Zhang Xiaofeng replied calmly, “Oh? What if your daughter gets kicked out of the family?”

Wang Dajuan immediately shut her mouth.

Right. Even if everything remained under the Su name, what did that matter? There were too many real-life stories like that in the news. If that day came, would Su Mingxin drive her daughter out too?

Zhang Xiaofeng continued, “Why so quiet? I’m telling you, you might get kicked out too. You and Su Qianghai both. Just wait for it. Haha!”

Wang Dajuan’s face turned dark. Embarrassed and furious, she shouted, “Don’t be so smug! Even if you struggle for ten lifetimes, you’ll never own what we do. You think it’s funny? You’re still a broke loser!”

“Sure, I’m a broke loser. But if your partners default and you get kicked out, I’ll still be richer than you. At least I can afford a new apartment in a decent neighborhood. What about you? You probably won’t even be able to rent low-income housing. You’ll have debt collectors chasing after you all day. Haha! Just imagining it makes me feel great!”

Wang Dajuan was so enraged her face turned red. Gritting her teeth, she shouted, “Smug bastard! Get lost!” Then she slammed the phone down with a loud clack.

At the restaurant, Zhang Xiaofeng burst out laughing. Speechless, weren’t you? Furious, weren’t you? That’s right—given your situation, you’re being squeezed from both sides. You won’t be able to handle it.

Even if you try to bring in outside help, you think any rich man will want a buy-one-get-one deal with your pregnant daughter?

And besides, your company’s a mess. No wealthy businessman would be stupid enough to take it on. First, they’d have to take your daughter and the child, then pour money into a broken company. What idiot would agree to that?

This world is cruel, and the wealthy are even crueler. Their actuaries have calculated every risk down to the last decimal.

After his meal, Zhang Xiaofeng headed to work.

Back at the Su family’s villa, the atmosphere was gloomy. Wang Dajuan looked furious, and Su Yuebai looked heartbroken.

Grandma let out a long sigh. Her aging body couldn’t take it anymore. She quietly stepped out and hailed a taxi, leaving alone.

Su Qianghai wasn’t home today. He was at the company, trying to handle the crisis.

At that moment, he was struggling to deal with the breach of contract lawsuit filed by Yan Tao.
