I Am The Villain's Lackey With Sign-in System - Chapter 84:
Chapter 84: Good Guy, This Protagonist Is Just Like the Villain, A Real Face-Slap Moment:
[Wow, this guy doesn’t seem to have any real abilities, but he sure knows how to brag!]
[According to the early-stage plot setup, while Cang Feng is supposedly talented in cultivation…]
[He never took cultivation seriously because of his playful nature.]
[It was only after his master passed away that he began training in earnest and eventually became a heavenly master.]
This was typical of novels where the protagonist starts out as an underdog but becomes incredibly powerful by the end. While it might seem cliché, it’s not surprising!
What was surprising, though, was seeing someone so lacking in skill boast so shamelessly without even blinking. That takes talent of its own!
Liu Qingqing, standing nearby, cast a strange look at Cang Feng. She hadn’t expected him to be this kind of person. Evidently, she was starting to take Ye Liuyun’s inner thoughts seriously. Perhaps this world really was like a fictional story!
“Oh?”
Seeing Cang Feng’s confident demeanor, Ye Liuyun smirked slightly and spoke in a relaxed tone. “I heard you mention issues with the feng shui here caused by little ghosts?”
“What’s your point?” Cang Feng frowned, unsure of where Ye Liuyun was going with this. Did this man actually know something about feng shui too?
“Nothing much. I’m just agreeing with you. The problem here really does stem from desolation and a lack of people, which leads to monsters appearing.”
“You know about feng shui?” Cang Feng looked at Ye Liuyun incredulously. His master had never mentioned such a young feng shui expert.
“I know a little.”
[Feng shui? Of course, I know nothing about it!]
Who was he kidding? Ye Liuyun didn’t need to rely on such methods.
[But I can definitely sense those spirits.]
This was enough reason for Ye Liuyun to speak up. His words, however, sent a chill down Liu Qingqing’s spine. Did this mean there really were ghosts nearby? The idea made her shiver. Though a staunch materialist, Ye Liuyun’s words began to challenge her worldview.
“Huh?”
Liu Zhengye, who had been silent, noticed his daughter’s discomfort and assumed she was frightened. He tried to comfort her, saying, “Don’t worry, Qingqing. As long as I’m here, everything will be fine.”
It wasn’t exactly reassuring. He couldn’t just admit, “Yes, there are ghosts. We should leave!”
“What are you really trying to say?” Cang Feng, now visibly agitated, asked. He couldn’t grasp Ye Liuyun’s intentions.
“What I’m asking is, have you truly resolved the ghost issue here?” Ye Liuyun questioned directly.
“You!”
Cang Feng knew the extent of his own abilities.
Hearing Ye Liuyun’s question shook him. Ye Liuyun continued calmly, “What you’ve set up isn’t a feng shui arrangement but a luck-borrowing array.”
Though Ye Liuyun knew little about feng shui, his expertise in Taoist practices and talismans made him confident. “Your setup borrows the Liu family’s luck to scare away the spirits temporarily. It may appear to solve the issue, but over time, it drains the family’s fortune, leading to ruin.”
This revelation stunned everyone. While the spirits may have been driven off for now, the cost was great.
“You!”
Cang Feng’s face darkened. How could Ye Liuyun see through his methods so easily? He hadn’t intended to harm the Liu family; it was simply the only method he knew to temporarily suppress the spirits. His plan had been to return and study the Taoist scriptures more thoroughly to find a proper solution. But now his secret was exposed!
“Little Taoist Priest, is this true?” Liu Zhengye asked, his tone turning cold as he looked at Cang Feng.
“Of course not!” Cang Feng forced a smile. Admitting the truth would spell disaster. He turned to Ye Liuyun and demanded, “My master is the famous Zian Zhenren. Who is your master? What gives you the right to criticize my work?”
He was growing desperate.
“I have no master, no sect, no lineage,” Ye Liuyun replied calmly.
Hearing this, Cang Feng’s face twisted in anger. “You have no master! What makes you think you can judge my work?”
Before he could continue, Ye Liuyun interrupted. “If you don’t believe me, I can show you.”
“???”
Liu Qingqing, Yin Danxue, and Fu Zhi were intrigued. Though afraid of ghosts, they couldn’t resist their curiosity.
“Can we really see it?” Liu Zhengye asked, unable to contain himself.
So far, even though Liu Zhengye believed in feng shui theories and had consulted numerous feng shui masters, he had never actually seen a ghost.
“Can!” Ye Liuyun nodded simply. Such a thing was no challenge for him.
“Oh?” Cang Feng scoffed at this. He was skeptical. “If ordinary people could see ghosts, who do you think you are?” Even his master had only barely managed to use Taoist techniques to open the Yin and Yang Eyes, and enabling others to see required incredibly advanced skills. Cang Feng simply did not believe Ye Liuyun could pull it off.
“You’ll see,” Ye Liuyun replied calmly to Cang Feng’s doubt, unfazed by the disbelief.
[Wait a minute!]
Just as Ye Liuyun was about to draw a talisman, he paused, lost in thought.
[Isn’t this kind of moment meant for the protagonist to shine by showing off and slapping others in the face?]
[Why does it feel like the protagonist is the one getting slapped here?]
[Well, the protagonist has turned into a villain all of a sudden!]
Truly, at this moment, Cang Feng looked more like a petty villain, constantly provoking. Meanwhile, Ye Liuyun played the role of a protagonist forced to deal with him.
“What’s wrong? Embarrassed because you can’t do it?” Cang Feng mocked, seeing Ye Liuyun pause. He didn’t miss any chance to ridicule him. Shrugging, Ye Liuyun ignored his provocations. The more he looked at Cang Feng, the more he seemed like a minor villain.
“If you want ordinary people to see ghosts, there’s a way—just draw a talisman!” Ye Liuyun stated confidently.
With his mastery over Maoshan talismans, he had access to many methods for enabling people to see spirits.
“A talisman?” Cang Feng sneered. “You have neither yellow paper nor a cinnabar brush. What, you plan to draw symbols out of thin air?” He smirked, confident in his ridicule. [Is this how he plans to save face?]
Ye Liuyun glanced at him with an odd expression. [This guy is just asking to be slapped in the face!]
“Then I’ll draw it out of thin air,” Ye Liuyun responded calmly, lifting one hand.
“You…” Cang Feng was ready to mock him further, but then froze.
Blue energy suddenly emanated from Ye Liuyun’s raised fingertips. With a graceful wave, the energy formed lines in the air, creating a detailed talisman in mid-air.
“Gasp!” Liu Zhengye widened his eyes in disbelief at the spectacle. Liu Qingqing, meanwhile, felt her previously rigid materialistic beliefs crumble completely. Though Yin Danxue and Fu Zhi were aware of Ye Liuyun’s unusual abilities, even they were surprised by what they saw.
“You!”
Drawing symbols out of thin air? Not even Cang Feng’s master could do that! He looked at Ye Liuyun in shock as he completed several talismans under the Tongtian Ru.
With a wave, the talismans flew toward Liu Qingqing, Cang Feng, and the others, integrating with them.
Ye Liuyun, well-versed in the plot, knew that Cang Feng was far from mastering yin-yang techniques at this point.
“What is this?” Liu Zhengye, being older and more experienced, felt his eyes sting slightly as he blinked.
“The talisman’s effects will last for half an hour. After that, you’ll be back to normal,” Ye Liuyun explained calmly. While more permanent methods existed, they weren’t necessary now.
“Master, your skills are truly extraordinary!” Liu Zhengye said, filled with respect. Clearly, Ye Liuyun was no ordinary person.
Ye Liuyun simply waved off the praise, uninterested. “Take this half-hour to examine your family’s luck carefully.”
“Yes, yes! Master is right!” Liu Zhengye nodded repeatedly, eager to make use of the opportunity. Meanwhile, Ye Liuyun turned to see Cang Feng subtly inching away.
With a smile, he asked, “You’re not planning to run away, are you?”
“No, of course not!” Cang Feng quickly denied it, though he was indeed contemplating an escape.
Seeing Ye Liuyun’s methods, he knew he was no match and feared retribution for his earlier provocations. But since Ye Liuyun had called him out, he couldn’t admit it.
Puffing out his chest, he faced Ye Liuyun defiantly.
“That’s good,” Ye Liuyun said, a relaxed smile on his face. “I thought you were scared.”
