Chapter 88: You Don’t Even Have A Chance To Be A Ghost, Sword Control!:

Recently, Chen Kai had been riding high on his newfound success. Once an ordinary singer who spent decades performing to little success, his life took an unexpected turn. Not only was he sent back in time to when he was twenty, but he also acquired a notebook filled with hit songs from another world.

For Chen Kai, this was nothing short of divine intervention. He was certain it was his destiny to become the king of entertainment and the world’s brightest star.

“When I release a few more of those hit songs, Qu Yingmeng will definitely look at me differently!” Chen Kai thought smugly.

He was thrilled that the stunning boss of his entertainment company was within reach. If he could win her over, he wouldn’t just become the king of entertainment—he would also gain control of the company and rise to true power.

“Hahaha!” He laughed out loud, unable to contain his glee. Just then, his phone buzzed with a text message.

“Qu Yingmeng wants me to come to the company?” he read aloud, momentarily stunned before his excitement grew.

She must be interested in him!

There was no other explanation. Brimming with confidence, he adjusted his sleeves and left his modest rental apartment. It was a far cry from luxury, but he wasn’t concerned. Fame and fortune were just around the corner.

He made his way to the office with high hopes, imagining all sorts of possibilities for why Qu Yingmeng had called him in. But when he arrived, he was taken aback. Instead of Qu Yingmeng, a man with an imposing aura sat waiting.

“Who are you?” Chen Kai frowned, clearly displeased.

“You must be Chen Kai,” said the man, who was none other than Ye Liuyun. The message had come from the company, not directly from Qu Yingmeng.

“I’m Ye Liuyun, and you could say I’m the boss here,” Ye Liuyun said with a casual smile. After all, everything tied to Qu Yingmeng was essentially his.

Chen Kai’s face darkened. He immediately grasped the implication. “It seems you’ve figured it out,” Ye Liuyun said, reading his expression easily. “Qu Yingmeng is mine, so I am, in a sense, the boss.”

He then shifted the conversation. “I’ve listened to your music. It’s quite good.” It sounded like a compliment, but Chen Kai wasn’t fooled. He responded with a cold “Oh” and added, “I want to resign.”

His interest in the entertainment company had always been driven by Qu Yingmeng’s beauty. Now that he knew she had a man, there was no reason to stay.

“Have you thought it through?” Ye Liuyun asked with a smile. “The penalty for breaking your contract isn’t cheap.”

Even though the contracts weren’t excessively binding, the penalty was still beyond Chen Kai’s means. But Chen Kai wasn’t intimidated. He sneered, “Give me three years. By then, I’ll be the brightest star.”

Ye Liuyun maintained his smile as Chen Kai spoke with confidence. “Just because she’s yours now doesn’t mean she always will be,” Chen Kai added, thinking of Qu Yingmeng. He was convinced that once he achieved stardom, she would come to him willingly.

Ye Liuyun’s smile never faltered. “So confident?” he asked lightly.

“Humph!” Chen Kai had no intention of engaging further. He turned on his heel, ready to leave, but then—

“Is it because of that notebook filled with songs from another world that you’re so sure of yourself?” Ye Liuyun asked.

Chen Kai froze, his whole body stiffening. He turned slowly, his face pale with shock. “You… how do you know about that?” he stammered, unable to form a coherent question.

Ye Liuyun simply smiled and reached beneath the desk, pulling out a notebook. As soon as Chen Kai saw it, his eyes widened in disbelief.

The notebook in Ye Liuyun’s hands was none other than Chen Kai’s precious possession, containing music from another world.

For Ye Liuyun, obtaining it was a trivial matter.

“You really were careless, leaving something so valuable in a mere rental house,” he remarked casually as he flipped through the pages filled with songs.

This notebook was Chen Kai’s greatest asset, the source of his confidence and ambition. Without it, he was nothing. “Give it back! Give it back to me!” Chen Kai shouted, lunging forward desperately to reclaim it. But just as he moved, Ye Liuyun raised a hand, and an invisible force instantly froze Chen Kai in place.

“What… is this?” Chen Kai’s shock grew as he felt the immobilizing force. He couldn’t comprehend what he was facing. Wasn’t this supposed to be a normal world? How could such extraordinary powers exist?

“Who… who are you?” he stammered, all the arrogance and defiance drained away, leaving only terror.

“You’re still too naive,” Ye Liuyun said with a dismissive shake of his head.

Sensing imminent danger, Chen Kai’s mind raced. He had to do something—anything—to survive. “You already have the notebook. Let me go! I’ll never be a threat to you!” His voice pleaded, his eyes wide with desperation. Life was his only hope, and he clung to it desperately.

But Ye Liuyun merely shrugged, showing no interest in Chen Kai’s words. “Some struggles are just futile,” he said, as if dismissing an insect. It was then that Chen Kai realized escape was never an option.

“Even if I become a ghost, I will haunt you!” he shouted, rage and fear mixing in his final moments. Yet before he could act, Ye Liuyun appeared in front of him, faster than thought, and Chen Kai’s soul was seized.

“I’m sorry, but you won’t even get the chance to be a ghost,” Ye Liuyun said coldly.

With that, Chen Kai collapsed lifelessly, his ambitions extinguished in an instant. His death was as swift as it was cruel, and he fell to the ground with a final thud.

Chen Kai, who believed his destiny was just beginning, never saw it coming. His story ended before it could truly begin.

[Host has killed the Son of Destiny. A special sign-in opportunity has been awarded.]

The system’s voice echoed in Ye Liuyun’s mind.

With a simple wave of his hand, Ye Liuyun reduced Chen Kai’s body to ashes, leaving no trace behind. There was no need to worry about consequences; the Zhao Group’s influence could easily cover up such matters.

With Chen Kai’s notebook and computer in hand, Ye Liuyun left the scene.

Upon returning to the villa, Ye Liuyun presented the computer to Qu Yingmeng.

“Here, this is for you,” he said, handing it over casually. While she had already sensed there was something special about it, she still looked at him curiously.

“What’s this?” she asked.

“It contains a collection of hit songs. With this, you can cultivate many artists for your entertainment company,” he explained with a smile.

This computer, with all its treasures, had the power to create legends in the industry. Of course, Ye Liuyun wanted his woman to have every advantage.

“I see,” Qu Yingmeng replied, a knowing smile on her face as she accepted the gift. Her quick understanding was one of the things Ye Liuyun appreciated most about her.

“Brother Liuyun!” Zhuge Mu, who had been watching, approached with a playful smile.

“Do I get a gift too?” she asked eagerly.

“Of course you do!” Ye Liuyun replied, lifting her up with a grin. “It’s me. Let’s see if you can handle it!” Zhuge Mu laughed, undaunted and ready for whatever challenge he presented.

Leaving Qu Yingmeng to explore the computer’s contents, Ye Liuyun turned to Zhuge Mu.

As they left together, Qu Yingmeng watched them go with a gentle smile. She was accustomed to Ye Liuyun’s antics by now.

Turning back to her new treasure, she prepared to delve into the songs. But just as she was about to start, Ye Liuyun pulled her aside.

“There’ll be plenty of time for that later,” he whispered playfully.

“Bad guy!” she teased. It wasn’t until nightfall that Ye Liuyun finally had a moment to himself to reflect on his reward.

Sinking into the sofa, he sighed contentedly.

“System, use the special sign-in opportunity I just earned,” he commanded.

The system responded immediately, as always.
