Chapter 24: A Thought, a World; A Blade of Grass, Rise or Wither

“Hengge, I’m your master!” Lu Sheng’s expression turned grim.

“You’re just a beast. If you block my way, I’ll still curse you,” Lu Hengge’s eyes shimmered with killing intent. If he had the strength to kill Lu Sheng right now, he’d have already done it—no need for so much talk.

For a moment, the Pill Hall was silent.

The junior alchemist stared with his mouth agape, eyes fixed in shock on Lu Hengge.

Holy Son… are you rebelling?

Even setting aside whether Lu Sheng was still his master, she was still a Spirit Fusion Realm expert! Speaking to her like that—was he insane?

The Three Thousand Dao Sect was a righteous sect, where reputation was everything. Lu Hengge’s current actions already bordered on treason and defiance of morality. If word got out, and the sect master or the elders heard, Lu Hengge would definitely be severely punished.

“I’d better slip out,” the junior alchemist thought, eager to flee.

But the next second, his legs went soft and he collapsed to the floor.

Lu Sheng’s terrifying aura spread across the entire Pill Hall. Ice-blue crystals fanned out beneath her feet, and within moments, the entire hall had been frozen into a sculpture of frost.

“Is this how I’ve taught you to respect your elders?” she shouted. “Look at you now—there’s not a shred of the Holy Son’s bearing in you. You’re not only disgracing the sect, you’re disgracing me!”

Her crimson robe was soon covered in frost. The surrounding temperature plummeted. Even Lu Hengge’s body was coated with ice.

Lu Hengge casually took out a fiery red pill from his storage ring and swallowed it. The bone-chilling cold that had seeped into his body was instantly relieved.

It had to be said—Spirit Fusion Realm cultivators were terrifying.

But Lu Hengge didn’t flinch at all.

“Elder Lu, if I’m not mistaken, we already severed our master-disciple relationship days ago. You’re no longer my master, so what right do you have to lecture me?”

“And another thing,” he added coldly. “You never actually taught me anything. Don’t flatter yourself.”

Lu Hengge sneered.

Lu Sheng’s aura froze in an instant. She wanted to refute him but realized that what Lu Hengge said was true.

She really hadn’t guided him much.

She wasn’t good at teaching others. When Lu Hengge first arrived at the sect, she had tried to guide him personally, only to realize her instruction was less effective than his self-study. So she eventually stopped interfering and settled for verbal reminders.

Even Qiu Liu’s cultivation had mostly been supervised by Lu Hengge.

It could be said that the only grace Lu Sheng had shown Lu Hengge was bringing him back to the Three Thousand Dao Sect from a field of ruins over twenty years ago.

Beyond that, Lu Hengge owed her nothing.

Perhaps out of a tinge of guilt, Lu Sheng restrained her icy aura. Her tone softened, “We’ve been master and disciple for over twenty years. That bond can’t just be severed overnight.”

“I know you harbor resentment, but now that you’ve lost your cultivation, where will you go after leaving Qingyun Peak?”

Nearby, the junior alchemist’s jaw dropped even further.

Holy crap—what a shocking secret!

The Holy Son had lost his cultivation?!

He’d sensed earlier that Lu Hengge had no spiritual Qi on him but had assumed he was wearing some treasure that masked it. He never imagined that it was truly gone.

That meant the Three Thousand Dao Sect’s Holy Son was now just a mortal…

Things were going to change. No sect would allow someone without cultivation to remain as their Holy Son or Saintess. That position would soon be reassigned.

The alchemist cautiously looked up at Lu Hengge.

What in the world had happened?

Still, he continued to respect Lu Hengge. Even if the title of Holy Son was stripped away, the title of 8th-grade alchemist would remain. For any alchemist, that was worthy of reverence.

“Are you blind?” Lu Hengge said, casting a mocking glance at Lu Sheng.

In that moment, Lu Sheng’s temper flared again.

“Can’t you see I’m doing fine here at the Pill Hall?” he said. “It’s a thousand times more comfortable than Qingyun Peak.”

Lu Hengge really wondered if Lu Sheng had been kicked in the head by a donkey. No—more accurately, the whole Qingyun Peak had been.

Ye Feng acted calm and calculating on the surface, but in truth, he was an arrogant fool who believed everything was under his control. As for Qiu Liu, her brain, if weighed, would be lighter than a pig’s by two liang.

Lu Sheng had been decent once, but spending too much time with those two seemed to have rotted her intellect.

Three complete idiots!

Wait—Lu Hengge suddenly remembered—he had another junior sister.

But she had long been away from the Three Thousand Dao Sect. Supposedly, her special physique required her to cultivate in a specific environment until she reached the Nascent Soul Realm before she could return.

He didn’t remember her well—they’d only met once.

Based on his past life’s memory, this junior sister had died prematurely before reaching the Nascent Soul Realm.

Honestly, Lu Hengge kind of envied her.

Training outside the sect was probably better than cultivating alongside three idiots in here.

“Hengge, we’ve known each other for over twenty years,” Lu Sheng said earnestly. “I brought you to the sect, helped you step onto the path of cultivation. You were the first disciple I ever took. How could you truly sever that bond?”

She was confident.

She believed that Lu Hengge’s Dao heart had been damaged, causing this shift in his thoughts and behavior. As long as his Dao heart could be mended, everything could return to normal.

As for rebuilding his Nascent Soul, she hadn’t figured that out yet. But worst case, he could cultivate his physical body and become a body cultivator. That was harsh, but better than being a powerless mortal.

Lu Hengge sighed.

He had been wrong.

He never should have wasted time on this idiot.

If he stayed a moment longer, Lu Sheng’s amniotic fluid would probably flood into her brain.

With that, Lu Hengge turned and began to walk away.

“Come back to Qingyun Peak with me!” Lu Sheng extended her hand to grab him.

The next second, the ice in the Pill Hall melted like winter snow under blazing sun. Countless blades of grass sprouted and flourished in every corner of the hall.

Even Lu Sheng’s body began to bloom with green shoots.

Ice melted. Life returned.

For a top-tier alchemist, a mere flick of the finger could create a world of verdant life. A wave of the hand could bring endless vitality.

But such wild growth required nourishment—and the best nourishment was the spiritual Qi in a cultivator’s body.

Lu Sheng’s expression darkened.

She could feel roots and buds sprouting inside her meridians, greedily sucking away her spiritual Qi.

“A single thought forms a world. A single blade of grass decides life or death.”

“The Grand Fortune Scripture of the Medicine King Hall!”

It was Yao Fan’s cultivation technique.

Every blade of grass on the ground could save lives—or devour living flesh and blood until nothing remained.

But Lu Sheng could tell that Yao Fan’s aura remained at the half-step Divine Emperor Realm.

Lu Hengge’s expression stayed calm.

Are you kidding?

In the Pill Hall, Yao Fan was the boss.
