Chapter 25: The Truth Revealed

The junior alchemist nearby was nearly scared out of his wits. When Divine Realm experts clashed, ordinary cultivators suffered. In front of Spirit Fusion Realm and Divine Emperor Realm experts, ninety-nine point nine-nine percent of cultivators were essentially “mortals.” And he, a mere apprentice who hadn’t even officially become an alchemist, was less than that.

If he died under the residual force of these powerful beings, he wouldn’t even have a place to complain.

Fortunately, the master of the Pill Hall had awakened.

The junior alchemist felt that he had just survived a disaster.

“Lu Hengge is a man of the Pill Hall. Today, you won’t take him away.”

With vegetation blooming underfoot, a figure walked out of the lush greenery.

Lu Hengge’s eyes narrowed slightly. Yao Fan’s condition wasn’t looking good. In just a few days, the aura of death around him had grown thicker, as if he could perish at any moment. But Yao Fan had concealed it well—only someone like Lu Hengge, who was also an 8th-grade alchemist, could detect that surging death aura. Even someone like Lu Sheng at the Spirit Fusion Realm hadn’t noticed anything.

Lu Hengge looked at Yao Fan with worry. Though he had already known that Yao Fan’s remaining lifespan was limited, he didn’t expect things to be this critical.

Noticing Lu Hengge’s gaze, Yao Fan gave him a kind smile before turning to Lu Sheng, his expression instantly becoming cold. “If Hengge agrees to go with you, I won’t stop him. But if he doesn’t want to, you can’t force it.”

Dominant words—but perfectly reasonable.

Lu Sheng’s face darkened.

She didn’t mean any harm. She simply wanted to bring Lu Hengge back to Qingyun Peak. That was his home.

“Elder Yao, I’m simply taking my disciple home. Why must you interfere?” Lu Sheng said coldly.

In terms of strength, she was no match for Yao Fan. The higher one’s cultivation, the less likely they could fight across realms. Though she was a peak Spirit Fusion Realm cultivator, and Yao Fan was only half a step into the Divine Sky Realm, the difference was like heaven and earth.

Moreover, Yao Fan was a renowned alchemist—universally acknowledged to be the weakest in combat. Yet even she couldn’t defeat him. Unless she cultivated the sword path and grasped the true meaning of the sword heart, there was barely a chance.

“Your disciple?” Yao Fan glanced at Lu Hengge.

Lu Hengge shrugged.

Yao Fan understood and said, “Call out to him. Let’s see if he responds.”

Lu Sheng looked toward Lu Hengge, biting her lip. After some hesitation, she called softly, “Hengge, stop this nonsense. Let’s go home.”

Lu Hengge sneered and said nothing.

Nonsense?

So, in her eyes, everything that had happened was just him being childish.

How ridiculous.

The scene was silent for a long time.

Yao Fan patted Lu Hengge on the shoulder. “Go on with what you were doing. With me here, no one will touch you.”

Lu Hengge bowed deeply. That bow came from the heart.

Seeing this, Lu Sheng felt a stabbing pain, as if a blade was slicing across her heart. She was supposed to be his master. But in that moment, Yao Fan looked more like the real master.

Lu Hengge strode away.

“Hengge! Hengge!!”

Lu Sheng called out repeatedly but got no answer.

As his figure disappeared from view, she stood there in a daze, lost in thought, her expression vacant and helpless.

The junior alchemist didn’t understand much, but even he felt a twinge of pity for Lu Sheng.

Then he quickly dismissed that feeling. Who was he, a mere apprentice, to pity a Spirit Fusion Realm powerhouse? Laughable.

“Hall Master, I’ll take my leave.”

The apprentice bowed and quickly left.

Inside the Pill Hall, only Yao Fan and Lu Sheng remained.

Lu Sheng snapped out of her daze, her expression turning sharp again. “Elder Yao, my disciple has merely suffered some damage to his Dao heart. Once I find a way to repair it, he’ll naturally return to Qingyun Peak.”

Dao heart damaged?

Yao Fan looked at her strangely. For a Spirit Fusion Realm cultivator to not even see whether someone’s Dao heart was intact—what a joke. A master of self-deception.

But he didn’t bother to expose her. He knew clearly that Lu Hengge truly didn’t want to return to Qingyun Peak or associate with anyone from there. It had nothing to do with any Dao heart issue.

“Elder Lu, I heard that a few days ago, Hengge severed your master-disciple relationship.”

Yao Fan’s tone was gentle.

“Nonsense! He did not!” Lu Sheng refuted loudly, though her eyes wavered.

“He was just upset and said things in anger. Besides, I never agreed to sever it!” The more she explained, the more uncertain her voice became.

“Does that matter?” Yao Fan asked.

Matter?

Lu Sheng froze again.

Of course it mattered!

She didn’t want to lose Lu Hengge. He was the first disciple she had ever taken in, someone she brought into the Three Thousand Dao Sect herself. He was her disciple, her child.

Just as she was about to say something, Yao Fan gestured toward the door. “It matters to you. But to Hengge, it doesn’t. He doesn’t want to see you anymore, nor any of the people from Qingyun Peak. You should leave. And let me make something else clear—Qingyun Peak’s people are no longer welcome at the Pill Hall.”

“Also, from this day forward, the Pill Hall will no longer distribute pills. Anyone from Qingyun Peak should stay away. If not, don’t blame me for turning hostile.”

Just seeing Lu Sheng made him sick.

Seeing Ye Feng and Qiu Liu made him even sicker.

Whether or not Lu Hengge remained the Holy Son, whether or not he could cultivate again, Yao Fan wanted to make it known to all that Lu Hengge belonged to the Pill Hall.

Lu Sheng took a deep breath. “Pill distribution is a rule set by the sect master. You have no authority to change it.”

“Then let the sect master come speak to me,” Yao Fan sneered.

What a joke.

The sect master was still in seclusion. Who could stop him?

And to be honest, in his current state, he might already be gone before the sect master emerged. What need was there to care about the aftermath?

Lu Sheng was left speechless.

She couldn’t win in a fight. She couldn’t win in an argument either.

She felt so stifled she nearly burst a blood vessel.

Fools!

The pills they used to receive all came from Lu Hengge.

Yet these people had always accepted them without guilt.

Now there were no pills.

Let’s see how these freeloaders planned to cultivate now.

Lu Sheng was driven out of the Pill Hall.

BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!!

Three loud chimes echoed through the entire Three Thousand Dao Sect.

Countless disciples looked up at the sky as a brilliant silver screen descended, spiritual Qi forming a brush that sketched out a shocking message for all to see:

[From today onward, the Pill Hall is sealed!]

Uproar.

The Pill Hall was sealed!

Didn’t that mean they would no longer receive pills from the Pill Hall?

How would they cultivate then?

No matter how talented a cultivator was, they couldn’t do without pills. Without them, everyone’s cultivation speed would drastically decline.

…

Hall of Justice.

Lin Xing looked up at the falling silver screen.

“Of all people to offend, they chose Yao Fan. Qingyun Peak really is full of fools.”

Behind him, black mist churned as a shadowy figure took form—his face obscured.

“Patriarch, the investigation is complete.”

“Speak,” Lin Xing said without turning around.

“The source of the Holy Son’s demonic aura is from the royal bloodline of the demon race.”

Lin Xing’s eyes gleamed.

Royal bloodline?

Then it seemed Lu Hengge truly had been wronged.
