Chapter 82: She Turned Out to Be the Top Scorer in the College Entrance Exam

While Lu Ning was still stunned, Gu Zifeng’s excited shriek rang in her ears, “Damn, Xiao Ning, your scores have been hidden! Awesome, congratulations in advance!”

Lu Ning’s mind was blank. She instinctively glanced at Ji Chiqian beside her, “Does that mean I did pretty well?”

“Not just well, extremely well!”

Gu Zifeng immediately snapped a photo, preparing to post it on his Moments, “A young girl I know got her exam results hidden. Let’s put down everything we’re doing and congratulate this hardworking girl.”

Ji Chiqian’s thin lips curved slightly, “Congratulations.”

His expression was calm, as if he wasn’t surprised at all by Lu Ning’s results today.

Upon hearing his compliment, Lu Ning finally revealed a bright smile.

Now she understood what it meant to have her scores hidden.

She had truly done it.

Getting into Yun University was no longer a problem!

Lu Ning stood up and screamed along with Gu Zifeng, then turned and hugged Ji Chiqian, her face flushed red, “I did it!”

Ji Chiqian’s body stiffened slightly, but his gaze was extremely gentle, “Yes.”

Lu Ning quickly lowered her head and quietly let go of him, turning to find Gu Zifeng.

She hoped her little outburst hadn’t drawn Ji Chiqian’s attention.

For her, that brief hug was enough.

When she was at her most helpless and desperate, it was he who appeared beside her, like a guiding light on a dark rainy night.

Ji Chiqian stood nearby, watching her horse around with Gu Zifeng, a satisfied smile playing on his lips. It felt strangely wonderful, as if the little sapling he had carefully nurtured was finally growing up.

Not long after, Lu Ning received a call from her homeroom teacher, “Lu Ning, our school already knows your results. Congratulations, you’re ranked first in the entire city!”

“First place, really?”

“Really. Although the results haven’t been officially released yet, we can see the scores. Your progress has amazed all of us. Congratulations.”

Holding her phone, Lu Ning smiled. She looked up and saw Ji Chiqian walking over, carrying a cake.

She felt that this moment was the happiest she had been since her rebirth.

“Lu Ning, come to school tomorrow. We’ll discuss your preferred major, and the school also wants to make a promotional poster for you.”

“Okay.”

Lu Ning hung up and glanced at the cake, where the words [Top of the Honor Roll] were written.

She smiled and asked, “When did you prepare this?”

“Had it delivered this morning.”

Ji Chiqian placed the cake in front of her and took a hat to put on her head.

They stood very close.

Lu Ning obediently stood there, suddenly noticing how tall Ji Chiqian was. Standing in front of him, she could only see the buttons on his shirt.

His fingers brushed her hair, and his Adam’s apple bobbed involuntarily.

Ji Chiqian awkwardly took a step back, “All done.”

Gu Zifeng lit the candle in the middle of the cake, “Make a wish and blow it out.”

Looking at the cake, Lu Ning closed her eyes, and the person who appeared in her mind was surprisingly Ji Chiqian.

Unable to resist, she made an impossible wish, then secretly opened her eyes and blew out the candle.

Ji Chiqian said in a low voice, “Congratulations on the beginning of your new life.”

Gu Zifeng teased, “Let’s have a quick interview—Xiao Ning, what wish did you make?”

Lu Ning felt a bit guilty. She coughed lightly, “If I say it, it won’t come true.”

She didn’t even dare to look at Ji Chiqian.

She was afraid that one glance would give her away.

Gu Zifeng spoke up, “Xiao Ning, tell me your wish. I’ll make it come true for you!”

Lu Ning blurted out, “I want to go to a bar.”

“No problem.”

“No.”

Lu Ning instinctively looked at Ji Chiqian, her almond-shaped eyes filled with a certain anticipation.

They stared at each other for a moment before Ji Chiqian gave in, “Why do you want to go to a bar?”

Lu Ning’s tone was filled with longing, “Because I’ve never been.”

Actually, in this life, she hadn’t been.

In her previous life, she had gone to a bar once, but it left her with a psychological shadow. This time, she wanted to go again to erase that shadow completely.

Gu Zifeng patted Ji Chiqian’s chest, “Aww, why not let her go, you tyrant, bad guy!”

Ji Chiqian’s mouth twitched, “You better shut up, you sissy!”

Lu Ning laughed so hard her stomach hurt. She really liked her life now.

But not long after, she received a message from her Second Brother: [Ningning, the results are out. How did you do? Was your Chinese affected?]

Seeing this message, Lu Ning sneered.

It seemed her Second Brother knew very well that the stationery incident would greatly affect her exam.

No one was a fool. They just pretended not to know.

Lu Ning, uncharacteristically, replied: [What do you think?]

[Sorry, Ningning. Whatever compensation you want, Second Brother will agree. Even if you want to repeat a year, I’ll stay with you every day.]

But Lu Ning didn’t reply again.

Lu Nanfeng kept staring at his phone, feeling extremely upset.

He had affected Lu Ning’s performance. She had worked hard in those last few months, and her grades had improved significantly.

Lu Nanfeng returned to the hall and heard Qin Xiang crying pitifully.

The butler and Lu Liu were trying to comfort her.

The butler said, “Miss Qin Xiang, you didn’t do well because you were sick those few days, so it affected your performance. Your real strength is much higher than these scores.”

Lu Liu added, “Exactly, Qin Xiang, don’t be sad. Scores don’t mean everything. Especially for people from families like ours—even average results won’t affect your future.”

Qin Xiang wiped her tears sadly, “But Sister Ningning must have done well. I wanted to attend the same university as her, but now it seems impossible.”

Lu Liu blurted out, “She probably didn’t do that well. I heard that a top student failed in the Chinese exam and only scored a hundred points more than you.”

A hint of pride flashed in Qin Xiang’s eyes. It seemed Lu Ning really was affected by that defective stationery.

Lu Nanfeng walked over with a stern face, “Sixth Brother, are you gloating? Ningning is our younger sister. How does her doing badly benefit you?”

“Second Brother, I didn’t mean that. I was just trying to comfort Qin Xiang.”

“Even if you’re comforting Qin Xiang, you don’t have to mock Ningning, right?”

After being scolded, Lu Liu realized he was in the wrong and said softly, “I get it. I won’t do it next time. But what about Lu Ning?”

Lu Nanfeng’s face was cold, “What do you think she can say? Anyone would be upset. It’s all my fault.”

He hadn’t handled the matter properly.

Qin Xiang spoke hypocritically, “Second Brother, if Sister Ningning wants to repeat the year because she feels she didn’t do well, I can accompany her. After all, we’re family and should progress together. But I think Sister Ningning wants to leave the Lu family, so she probably won’t repeat.”

Lu Nanfeng frowned, “That’s not up to her. I’ll personally accompany her through another year and take care of everything until she retakes the exam.”

This way, he could also try to repair their relationship.
