Chapter 3: Su Ningxue and Lu Ningxue.

This was a land that resembled a celestial paradise. The spiritual energy here was so dense it felt as if it might condense into droplets and fall from the sky.

The air was fresh and invigorating, and every breath seemed to carry the blessings of nature itself. Every flower and every leaf brimmed with vitality, as if they possessed souls of their own.

Amid towering mountains, magnificent palaces stood tall, like dazzling pearls embedded across this majestic land.

At the foot of the mountains, vast cities stretched endlessly, winding like a colossal dragon, their grandeur leaving one in awe.

Immortal birds soared across the heavens, and true dragons pulled chariots through the skies. Such breathtaking sights were nothing unusual to the people who lived here.

A man dressed in an exquisite robe patterned with cloud motifs walked steadily up an ancient staircase. His jade crown gleamed brilliantly atop his head, and sunlight filtered through the clouds, casting a golden radiance upon him, making him appear even more transcendent.

Beside him walked a stunningly beautiful woman wearing a phoenix crown. The two ascended together toward the mountain peak.

At the summit stood an ancient bronze hall. They stopped before it.

The hall’s bronze doors were 30 meters tall. On either side of the entrance sat two elderly men, motionless like stones. As they sensed the arrival of the jade-crowned man and his companion, the elder in black on the left slightly raised his eyelids, and strands of chaotic aura began to coil around him.

The jade-crowned man stepped forward and cupped his hands in greeting, “Junior Lu Daolin greets Elder Quan and Elder He.”

“Junior Ning Yushuang greets Elder Quan and Elder He,” the beautiful woman beside him followed with a respectful salute.

“Little Daolin, you and your wife need not be so courteous. This old man feels unworthy of such respect, haha,” Elder Quan said warmly, though he made no move to stand.

As for Elder He, he remained completely still, showing not the slightest reaction.

Lu Daolin and Ning Yushuang showed no sign of concern. No matter how high their status, these two were their elders, not to mention that they had guarded this important place of the clan for their entire lives, contributing greatly.

“Elder Quan is too modest. Etiquette cannot be neglected,” Lu Daolin replied respectfully.

“What brings the two of you to the Soul Hall today? Recently, there have been no broken Soul Plaques here,” Elder Quan asked, slightly puzzled.

The Soul Hall was a vital place of the clan, where the Soul Plaques of all important members were stored.

Each plaque recorded the soul information of an individual and could sense life and death. Once a person died, their Soul Plaque would shatter, notifying the clan.

Lu Daolin glanced at Ning Yushuang before speaking, “Yushuang suddenly felt a sense of unease just now, but could not find the cause. After making some calculations, I barely determined that it might be related to Feng’er. So we came here to check and put her mind at ease.”

Elder Quan nodded. He naturally knew their son. In fact, he had personally recorded that boy’s Soul Plaque.

The bond between mother and child was profound. For cultivators of their level, even the slightest abnormal sensation was significant. Since she had felt something, it was reasonable to investigate.

With a wave of his sleeve, chaotic energy surged over the bronze hall, forming an ancient array. As it activated, the massive doors slowly opened.

Lu Daolin and Ning Yushuang bowed once more to the elders before stepping inside.

At the moment they entered, Elder He on the right let out a faint sound of surprise. His eyelids twitched slightly, as if he was about to open his eyes.

After a long moment, however, he returned to stillness, once again like a lifeless stone, his presence almost imperceptible.

“Heh… this is a good thing,” Elder Quan murmured softly. When Elder He reacted, his own eyes had opened slightly, chaotic energy swirling within, as if divine lightning flickered through them. Then he closed his eyes again with a faint smile.

Inside the hall, Lu Daolin and his wife made their way directly to a jade plaque floating in midair. Seeing that it was completely intact, Ning Yushuang finally let out a breath of relief, pressing a hand to her chest.

“As long as Feng’er is safe…”

Although she knew that if the Soul Plaque had shattered, the two elders would have already been alerted, she could not feel at ease without seeing it herself. Now, the weight on her heart was finally lifted.

Lu Daolin remained silent. Closing his eyes, he extended his divine sense into the Soul Plaque, his fingers forming calculations as mysterious runes flickered into existence.

Ning Yushuang stood quietly, waiting.

After a long while, Lu Daolin suddenly opened his eyes, a sharp gleam flashing within them.

“Feng’er’s tribulation has passed. His cultivation is complete, and he is about to step perfectly into the Nirvana Realm,” he said with a smile, not keeping her in suspense.

“Truly?” Ning Yushuang’s face lit up with radiant joy.

A mother’s heart always worried for her child traveling far. Although this was not Feng’er’s first journey, it was his longest, and she had been unable to completely put her mind at ease.

…

Meanwhile, in another celestial palace, someone else was also observing a Soul Plaque.

“How strange. Xue’er’s tribulation has indeed passed, but why has her fate changed so drastically?”

A woman of peerless beauty calculated with her fingers, letting out a soft gasp of surprise.

“It is a positive change… could it be that she has also been chosen?”

Beside her stood a dignified man, his brows furrowed in thought.

…

Lu Ningfeng was still slightly dazed. It wasn’t that he was lost in that bone-melting tenderness, but rather that the Xiao Xue he remembered had always been a well-behaved girl. The Xiao Xue from last night, however… that level of boldness was something he had never seen before.

Su Ningxue—no, now she was Lu Ningxue—calmly dressed herself, then pushed Lu Ningfeng toward the inner side of the bed with a look of mock disdain. With a flick of her hand, she sliced off a section of the snow-white bedsheet stained with crimson and stored it in her storage ring.

Only now, without the distracting sight of that breathtaking beauty, did Lu Ningfeng finally calm down. He was about to get up and speak, but Lu Ningxue beat him to it.

She stepped forward, hooking his chin with her slender fingers and lifting his face.

Her cherry lips touched his lightly before parting.

“In this life, you belong to me, Lu Ningxue. Remember this, brother. If you dare flirt around outside, just see how I deal with you.”

After saying this boldly, she turned and walked out.

On the face he could not see, a flush of red bloomed like clouds at sunset.

At the doorway, she lightly tapped the air with her finger. A jade bracelet appeared out of thin air. After retrieving it, she transformed into a fleeting shadow and vanished into the morning light.

“I was… teased?” Lu Ningfeng muttered after a moment, clenching his fist slightly. “That girl dares to tease me now? Next time, I’ll definitely teach her a lesson.”

As for her warning about flirting, he paid it no mind. The original “Lu Ningfeng” had been a noble family disciple, raised with the finest education and a gentleman’s demeanor. Such matters were never a concern.

Now that they had transmigrated together, it was a blessing beyond measure. How could he ever bear to make Xiao Xue sad?

…

This was a small courtyard. With Lu Ningfeng’s status as the Chief Disciple of the Azure Mist Sect, it was only natural that he received special treatment in Tongyou City. Other disciples were crowded into shared courtyards.

In the pavilion, a plainly dressed man in gray lounged lazily on a reclining chair, snoring.

A ripple suddenly passed through the air, and a figure flickered briefly before disappearing.

The man’s eyes snapped open, a sharp glint flashing within them. “Lao Liu.”

At the same time, Lu Ningfeng’s calm voice came from inside the room.

The hostility in the man’s eyes instantly vanished, replaced by a fawning grin. “Coming, Young Master! Liuzi is right here!”

“Prepare a tub of hot water. I want to take a bath.”

Hiss…

A bath early in the morning? Oh~ understood, understood.

A knowing smile appeared on Liuzi’s face. He responded quickly, fetched a large wooden tub, and entered the room. With a casual wave, a stream of water flowed out from his storage ring, already steaming in midair.

Once the hot water was ready, Liuzi called out cheerfully, “Young Master, the hot water is ready!”

Lu Ningfeng lay comfortably in the tub while Liuzi skillfully massaged his shoulders like a loyal attendant.

“Hm… she is Su Ningxue. You don’t need to stop her next time.”

Lu Ningfeng suddenly spoke.

For someone to leave the place he was guarding without a trace, Liuzi’s anger would have been understandable. If anything had happened to him, the consequences would have been catastrophic. The Lu Family’s wrath would be something neither he nor the Heavenly Martial Continent could withstand.

Then again, that wasn’t quite right. The original “Lu Ningfeng” was already gone. The current Lu Ningfeng was him, yet not entirely him. Whether their souls had merged or the original had completely perished, he didn’t know. But it didn’t matter much.

Still, there was some risk. In his memories, there was the existence of Soul Plaques. If one shattered, the consequences would be severe.

There was no point worrying now. He would be able to confirm things soon enough.

Thinking about it, Liuzi had indeed made a serious oversight.

However, since Liuzi had suppressed his cultivation and Lu Ningxue’s bracelet was no ordinary item, it was understandable that he had been deceived.

Lu Ningfeng didn’t blame him. In fact, he felt grateful. If not for this “oversight,” how could he have reunited with Xiao Xue?

“Su Ningxue… is she that one from the Su Family?” Liuzi asked cautiously.

Even Lu Ningfeng had only learned last night that Su Ningxue from the Su Family was in this world and had become the Chief Disciple of the Ancient Sword Sect. Naturally, Liuzi had no way of knowing.

But he knew one thing clearly—even in the upper realm, countless fairies and divine maidens had failed to catch Lu Ningfeng’s interest. In this lower world, it would be even more impossible.

Thus, the only possibility was that Su Ningxue.

“Mm.”

Lu Ningfeng silently added in his heart—it was Su Ningxue, but also Lu Ningxue.

“Young Master, your methods are truly impressive!”

“Get lost.”

“Right away!”
