Chapter 1: Reunion

The White Cloud Temple stood atop a small hill in the southern city.

Inside the temple were more than a dozen Daoists, and at this moment, standing before the temple master, Elder Baiyun, was a young man in Daoist robes.

The young man appeared to be in his early twenties, with delicate features. He stood quietly, listening to Elder Baiyun’s instructions.

“Qin Yang, you are the true young master of the Qin family in the southern city. You were mistakenly swapped at birth and, by a twist of fate, I ended up raising you. Now that your biological parents have found you, it’s time for you to go down the mountain and reunite with them,” Elder Baiyun said.

“Understood, Master,” Qin Yang replied.

Elder Baiyun hesitated for a moment before continuing, “After you leave the mountain, don’t mind what others say. Just follow your own Dao and act accordingly. Never betray your Dao heart.”

“I understand, Master,” Qin Yang bowed, then turned and left.

Elder Baiyun sighed deeply.

At that moment, a young disciple couldn’t help but ask, “Master, what is Senior Brother’s Dao?”

Elder Baiyun clenched his fist.

The young disciple pondered and said, “Master means to endure as much as possible and not resort to violence easily.”

Thud.

Elder Baiyun flicked his knuckle hard against the disciple’s forehead.

“Nonsense! What I mean is: take life and death lightly, and if someone refuses to submit, fight them! If you can use your fists, don’t waste time talking.”

The young disciple’s eyes widened. Was this really Senior Brother’s Dao?

“I hope the Qin family treats your Senior Brother well and accepts him as one of their own. Otherwise…”

Elder Baiyun sighed.

“Otherwise what? Will Senior Brother be heartbroken?”

The young disciple asked.

“No, your Senior Brother will use a certain spell.”

“What spell?” The young disciple was full of curiosity.

“The ‘Erasure from the Household Register’ spell,” Elder Baiyun said with another sigh.

The young disciple: “…”

He realized he had been too naive.

…

Southern city, Qin family.

Qin Yang stood in the grand hall of a luxurious mansion, looking slightly uneasy.

Not far from him, members of the Qin family sat on the sofa, scrutinizing him with disdainful expressions.

“So you’re Qin Yang, huh? You really grew up in the countryside—no manners at all. You see us and don’t even greet us,” said a woman in her twenties, dressed in formal business attire, looking at Qin Yang with arrogance and contempt.

“Qin Yang, even though you are my biological son, Qin Li has been with us all these years. Don’t even think about replacing him in our hearts,” said a woman in her forties who appeared to be Qin Yang’s biological mother, Jiang Wanrou.

Seated beside her was a young man also in his early twenties, impeccably dressed in designer clothes. Upon hearing Jiang Wanrou’s words, he showed a naive, cheerful smile.

“Mom, you’re so good to me. But don’t be so blunt; I’m afraid it might upset Brother,” he said.

Jiang Wanrou’s face softened into a loving smile when looking at him, but when her eyes fell on Qin Yang, they turned full of disdain again.

“Learn from your brother. If you were even one-tenth as sensible as him, I would be content,” she said.

Qin Li glanced at Qin Yang with disdain and sneered inwardly. The title of the Qin family’s young master could only belong to him.

Even if Qin Yang had blood ties with the Qin family, how could that compare to years of companionship?

“From now on, don’t claim to know me when you see me outside. My only brother is Qin Li,” said Qin Wan, the youngest daughter of the Qin family.

Qin Weiye frowned. Seeing Qin Yang remain silent, he said worriedly, “Is he mute? If so, the Su family may not agree to let him marry their daughter.”

“Hmph, so what if he’s mute? The Su family’s daughter is crippled and disfigured from a car accident. Having a mute marry her is already a blessing. Surely you don’t expect Brother to marry her instead?” Qin Wan said indignantly.

Qin Li added, “Brother Qin Yang, you’re lucky. Straight from the countryside, and you get to marry the top female CEO of the southern city. Others would kill for such a marriage.”

“Are you all done talking?”

At that moment, a voice rang out.

“You’re not mute?” Qin Weiye said in surprise.

Qin Yang replied indifferently, “Of course not. I just couldn’t be bothered to talk to a bunch of idiots.”

“What did you say? I’m your father! How dare you insult me, you ungrateful brat!” Qin Weiye roared, standing up in fury.

Qin Yang remained unmoved and said flatly, “An old fool gave birth to a little fool. That’s just a fact.”

Qin Weiye almost had a heart attack from the rage.

Panting heavily, he slumped back onto the sofa.

Qin Li stood up, angrily saying, “Brother, how can you talk to Dad like that? If it’s because of me, take it out on me instead. No matter how you hit or scold me, I can endure it, as long as you don’t drive me away.”

Qin Yang’s eyes lit up, and he slapped Qin Li across the face.

Smack.

Half of Qin Li’s face swelled up immediately, and he spat out several bloodstained teeth.

“Are you crazy? What are you doing?” Jiang Wanrou stood up, shielding Qin Li, glaring at Qin Yang like she was facing a mortal enemy.

“He asked me to hit him. Didn’t you hear? Or maybe you heard but didn’t understand. Truly brainless,” Qin Yang said coldly.

Jiang Wanrou saw black spots in front of her eyes and nearly fainted from anger.

“You country bumpkin, no manners at all. How can you talk to your parents like this?” Qin Xue, the eldest daughter and Qin Yang’s older sister, scolded.

Qin Yang slapped her across the face.

Smack.

Qin Xue clutched her cheek, staring in disbelief.

Qin Yang said disdainfully, “Did country folk dig up your ancestors’ graves? You look down on country people? Without them, what would you even eat? As for the so-called manners you mentioned, I have no family, so where would I get any manners from?”

“I’m just someone born to parents who never raised me. Am I wrong?”

Qin Xue covered her face, speechless.

Qin Wan shrank back, not daring to say a word.

Still, Qin Yang walked over, grabbed her, and threw her straight out the door.

“Ah! My front teeth are gone! It hurts!”

“I came back to reunite with family, not this girl. She’s clearly not part of this family. From now on, she’s not allowed inside,” Qin Yang said lightly.

The whole Qin family fell into an eerie silence.

Then Qin Weiye’s furious voice broke out.

“Bodyguards! Come in and seize this rebellious brat! I’m going to teach him a lesson!”

A dozen bodyguards rushed in and surrounded Qin Yang.

Qin Yang raised an eyebrow and sneered, “So talking won’t work with you people, huh? Fine. I know a little about fighting too.”

In the next instant, he stomped the ground hard.

The marble floor beneath his foot cracked and shattered.

The bodyguards gulped simultaneously and instinctively backed away a few steps.

Their bones weren’t as hard as marble.

Qin Weiye’s face turned extremely ugly.

Seeing the bodyguards so intimidated, he was so angry he couldn’t speak.

“Enough. Prepare some daily necessities and bedding for me—everything must be brand new. Send them to my room later,” Qin Yang ordered as he headed upstairs.

Just as he reached the stairs, he turned back and said, “Oh, and bring them within twenty minutes. Otherwise, I won’t mind tearing down this whole house.”

With that, Qin Yang didn’t look back and walked into a room on the second floor.

“That’s my room!” Qin Li screamed.

The next moment, Qin Yang started tossing Qin Li’s belongings out, some even smashing apart on the first floor.

“From now on, this is mine,” Qin Yang’s voice rang out.
