Stunned! My Cat Turned Out to Be a Female CEO - Chapter 9:
Chapter 9: Do You Want to Go Back? Xu Yan’s Little Scheme:
9:29 a.m.
9:30 a.m.
The market opened.
Xin’an Energy’s stock price initially rose slightly, opening a bit higher than the previous day. But as soon as the market opened, the stock price began to drop!
Xu Yan’s expression didn’t change, and the analysts in the room remained confident.
The opening price was 140 yuan. Their prediction was that if it fell to around 120 yuan, big investors would jump in, and the stock would rebound.
Xu Yan sipped from her cup and suddenly remembered drinking from Lu Fei’s cup. The thought irritated her. ‘Why does that annoying man keep popping into my head?!’
Just as Xu Yan was distracted, someone’s shocked voice brought her back to reality.
“No way?!”
She looked up. The stock price had fallen below 120 yuan! It was now 116.55 yuan per share—lower than their estimated bottom!
Xu Yan froze. ‘Was that dog man right again?!’
A group of more than 20 top analysts immediately pulled out their phones to check for news.
“Everything seems as expected.”
“Xin’an Energy just issued a statement expressing confidence in the lawsuit and assuring that orders would not be affected.”
“What’s going on? Why are investors pulling out? Are we missing something?”
Xu Yan watched as the stock hit its lower limit.
At 9:58 a.m., just 28 minutes after the market opened, Xin’an Energy reached the limit down.
The directors in the room sighed with relief, glad they had sold earlier.
“Good thing we pulled out. Otherwise, we would’ve lost big!”
“There must be some insider information we didn’t catch.”
“Thank God for the experts behind CEO Xu.”
As Xu Yan heard these comments, an image of Lu Fei sleeping next to her flashed in her mind. Her heart began to race again. ‘
So annoying! I wish I had never laid eyes on that dog man!’
“CEO Xu?” Director Hou Jianjun’s voice snapped her back to reality.
“What is it?” she asked.
“How did your insider predict Xin’an Energy’s price?” he inquired.
Gritting her teeth, Xu Yan replied, “He said it would drop.”
“How much lower?”
“Around 90 yuan.”
“Impossible,” came the immediate response from the directors and analysts. They shook their heads, dismissing the idea.
Expressionless, Xu Yan said, “We’ll find out on Monday. For now, let’s call it a day.” The stock had hit its limit down. Without any positive news, it wasn’t likely to rise again.
With the market closed over the weekend, by Monday, if it hit the limit down again, the lowest price would be just over 89 yuan.
‘Could he have already predicted that the stock would hit the limit down again on Monday? No way, right?’ She wondered.
After the meeting, Xu Yan tried to focus on other projects, but she found herself distracted. ‘Should I… go back?’
Despite Lu Fei’s annoying personality, he did seem to be good at this. But no. Xu Yan convinced herself that staying with him any longer would mess with her mind. She’d never felt this way before—thinking about him even during casual conversations. It unsettled her.
Meanwhile, Lu Fei was keeping an eye on the stock market too. When Xin’an Energy hit its limit down, he smiled.
Up to this point, Lu Fei had already made over 298,000 yuan. His target of 400,000 was now within reach!
The satisfaction of a successful investment was exhilarating. Feeling pleased, he got back to work.
At noon, Lu Fei and his colleague Zhou Song went downstairs for lunch.
There were plenty of restaurants in the central business district, most offering set meals. Lu Fei opted for tomato and egg with onion beef, along with a glass of orange juice.
“Hey, Brother Fei,” someone called out. “Join us for lunch? You look great today, by the way. That outfit suits you!”
As they walked, Lu Fei was greeted by several female colleagues. Ever since he joined the company, his good looks had caught the attention of many, but he remained polite and uninterested.
Zhou Song, walking beside him, sighed enviously. “Whenever I’m with you, it’s like I’m invisible.”
Lu Fei chuckled, “What can I say? Guess I’m just better looking.”
Zhou Song shook his head and sighed. “Honestly, with your looks, I think only CEO Xu could match you. She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, way prettier than any celebrity.”
“Not interested.” Lu Fei replied casually.
They continued chatting as they reached the restaurant, ate their meal, and then returned to the office.
The company had a lunch break, but Lu Fei wasn’t one for naps. Instead, he spent his time watching movies or browsing videos on Station B. By 2 p.m., he was back at work.
…
At 4 p.m., Xu Yan stretched, her slender waist drawing attention.
“Send the remaining work to me by 5 a.m. tomorrow, and I’ll take care of it.” Xu Yan told her assistant, Chen Yu.
“Got it, CEO Xu,” Chen Yu replied. “Should I arrange for Sister Liu to drive you home today?”
Xu Yan hesitated for a moment. “Yes, let her come.”
Sister Liu was Xu Yan’s driver, and calling her meant going home.
As Chen Yu was about to leave, Xu Yan suddenly asked, “Our company has employee communication groups for each department, right?”
“Yes, why do you ask?” Chen Yu was puzzled.
“I have a friend who wants to join the group to learn more about finance,” Xu Yan explained. “Help me get her into the Analysis Department’s third division, group 6.”
“Got it. Do you want me to handle it personally?” Chen Yu asked.
“No, have someone else do it. I don’t want people thinking we’re personally involved. It might create unnecessary pressure.”
Chen Yu was taken aback but quickly understood. “Understood. I’ll handle it.”
After Chen Yu left, Xu Yan immediately grabbed her second phone and applied for a new WeChat account.
She already had three phone numbers but only one WeChat account. Applying for another was easy.
Once the account was set up, her heart started racing. She pressed the back of her hand to her face, trying to cool down.
group 6 in the third division—that’s where the dog man worked.
