The Beautiful CEO Only Loves Me - Chapter 36:
Chapter 36: The Gift
After Xu Rixin and Xu Tian signed the documents, Xu Rixin announced that the land acquisition plan would be discussed again in three days. With that, the meeting was adjourned.
As the attendees began to leave, one of the vice presidents walked past Xu Tian, smiling as he patted his shoulder. “Young man, you really think the subway can be rerouted? Go pack your things and get ready to leave the company!”
The other executives also shook their heads with amused smiles. Everyone thought the idea of rerouting the subway was utterly impossible. Unless some natural disaster struck, the construction of the subway in Beijiang District was set in stone—unchangeable.
“Three days from now, the truth will speak for itself,” Xu Tian said, not bothering to argue with them, then turned and left the meeting room.
Afterward, Xu Tian headed to the company archives and located all project materials and bidding documents from the past few years. The subway wasn’t being canceled—it was simply not going to be built in Beijiang District anymore. Instead, it would be constructed in Nanshan District, where land prices were about to skyrocket.
In his previous life, he remembered that a piece of land in Nanshan District was going up for auction tomorrow. He had to finish preparing the bid today and submit it under the Xu Group’s name.
Because he hadn’t been coming to work for a while, the company had already revoked his position. Carrying a thick stack of documents, he randomly picked an empty meeting room and began to read.
Since his rebirth, Xu Tian’s memory had become extraordinarily sharp. He wasn’t quite at the level of photographic memory, but he could recall most of what he read after a single glance.
However, before he could get far, Xu Rixin and one of the vice presidents entered the room with a young woman who appeared to be in her twenties. She wore large sunglasses that covered most of her face, making it hard to see her appearance clearly. Yet her refined demeanor made it obvious—she was someone from an elite family.
“Miss Tang, this way please,” Xu Rixin said politely, his tone full of humility and deference.
Miss Tang showed little interest in Xu Rixin’s fawning. Her expression remained indifferent as she walked inside, and the two men followed her with forced smiles.
“Who is she, acting so high and mighty?” someone in the nearby office murmured.
“I heard she’s a major client from the Imperial Capital. Just now, I heard CEO Xu call her Miss Tang. She might be connected to one of the branches of the Tang Corporation from the Imperial Capital!”
“No wonder CEO Xu and vice president Wu are being so polite. They’re practically treating her like royalty.”
“Still, you have to admit—she really is stunning.”
Amid the whispers of the surrounding staff, Miss Tang was led into the meeting room. When the vice president accompanying Xu Rixin saw Xu Tian inside, he frowned.
“You’re about to be kicked out of the company. Why are you pretending to work? Get out!” he barked.
He had clearly seen Xu Tian flipping through the pages at lightning speed—barely five seconds per page. To him, it looked like Xu Tian was just putting on a show.
Miss Tang, whom they were escorting, glanced at the documents in Xu Tian’s hands. Her brow furrowed slightly, almost unnoticeably. But she said nothing. After giving Xu Tian a deep, meaningful look, she turned to Xu Rixin and said, “Let’s go somewhere else.”
That evening, Xu Tian returned to his old workstation and began gathering the things that had been tossed aside like trash.
“Hmm?” he muttered, noticing a small, exquisite red gift box among the mess.
He opened it to find a platinum necklace lying inside. The pendant was engraved with the letters “YT”.
This was the necklace he had carefully chosen for Lin Miaoyin. “Y” for “Yin” from Lin Miaoyin, and “T” for his own name—Tian.
He had intended to give it to her on her birthday, but due to certain events, he never got the chance—not even before his rebirth.
Thinking of the foolish things he had done in the past, Xu Tian shook his head and casually placed the necklace on the table.
Just then, Xu Rixin walked in. He was about to speak when he noticed the necklace in Xu Tian’s hand. His eyes paused briefly on the initials engraved on the pendant.
A strange, cold smile appeared on his face for just a second before it quickly vanished. Putting on a friendly expression, he walked in and said, “Xiao Tian, I didn’t agree to that bet today because I wanted you out of the company. I just wanted to teach you that you’re an adult now—impulsive actions come with consequences.”
Xu Tian looked at him with a cheerful smile. “You mean you’re not hoping I leave? Come on, big brother, you’d love to see me gone, wouldn’t you?”
Xu Rixin sighed. “Xiao Tian, Tang Bingyan’s been shielding you too much. Without her, you wouldn’t even be able to afford your meals right now.”
Hearing the sarcasm in his voice, Xu Tian laughed. “My wife is young, beautiful, and capable. She works hard to support me during the day and spoils me at night. Brother, are you jealous?”
Xu Rixin’s face turned stiff. At that moment, the look in his eyes was enough to kill. He still couldn’t understand why a woman like Tang Bingyan—breathtaking and exceptionally capable—would fall for someone as useless as Xu Tian.
“Xiao Tian,” Xu Rixin said coldly, “It’s one thing to have something, but it’s another to hold on to it. I just hope Tang Bingyan doesn’t lose interest after the novelty wears off.”
With that, he turned and walked out of Xu Tian’s office.
Outside, Xu Rixin immediately pulled up the surveillance footage. He quickly captured a screenshot of Xu Tian opening the gift box and saved it.
He then sent the screenshot to Tang Bingyan, along with a message:
“Dear sister-in-law, Xu Tian was working really hard at the company today—and he even prepared a gift for you.”
After confirming the message was received, a subtle smirk appeared on Xu Rixin’s face.
At the villa, Tang Bingyan sat on the sofa, her fingers clenched tightly around her phone, knuckles pale from the pressure. On her screen was the photo Xu Rixin had just sent.
Her face was like ice as she stared at the necklace, the pendant with the letters engraved on it. The temperature in the living room seemed to plummet instantly, as if frozen by the chill of her fury.
After a brief moment of silence, Tang Bingyan pulled up Ah Wei’s number and called.
Knowing the end of the workday was near, she had already instructed Ah Wei to wait outside the Xu Group building.
As soon as the call connected, her voice came sharp and commanding: “Go upstairs and bring him back!”
She hung up immediately after.
Outside the Xu Group, Ah Wei broke into a cold sweat as he lowered his phone. He didn’t know exactly what had happened, but from Tang Bingyan’s tone, it was clear.
Xu Tian had definitely done something stupid again.
The storm was coming.
Something big was about to happen.
“You two, come with me. We’re bringing Xu Tian home. Now!”
Ah Wei didn’t dare imagine what would happen next. The only thing on his mind was to carry out Tang Bingyan’s orders. Otherwise, it wouldn’t matter what happened to Xu Tian—he himself would be finished.
Meanwhile, Xu Tian casually glanced up at the camera above his head.
The way Xu Rixin had looked at him before leaving—that was definitely not right.
Given what he knew about his dear older brother, Xu Tian would be disappointed if he didn’t try something sneaky.
Still, he remained calm. Without any hurry, he took out his phone, snapped a photo of the gift box, and sent it to Tang Bingyan.
Afterward, he followed up with a message:
“Wife, take a guess—what gift did I get for you?”
