The Ten Heroines are Insane! - Chapter 110:
Chapter 110: Inexplicably Got a Mouthful of Dog Food:
At the Nalan Merchant Guild’s Ring Tower, the business area was lively.
Xu Ze and Nalan Qing walked side by side, and Nalan Qing still couldn’t believe she had succeeded.
Glancing at Xu Ze next to her, Nalan Qing felt a surge of affection for her sister, Nalan Yun.
She never expected Nalan Yun to be so capable.
When she had called their foolish cousin, Nalan Cheng, back home, Nalan Qing had been worried something might go wrong. Yet, unexpectedly, that idiot had provided an unexpected stroke of help.
“Yun’er, was this all part of your plan?” Nalan Qing wondered. Next time her sister won over the Holy Son, she vowed to treat her to something delicious as a reward.
Trying to calm her excitement, Nalan Qing stole a glance at Xu Ze. She noticed that his gaze was wandering over the nearby shops, seemingly searching for something.
“Ahem, are you looking for something, Lord Holy Son?” Nalan Qing asked, blinking as she moved closer.
Xu Ze nodded. “Yes, I want to buy some gifts while I’m out.”
“Gifts?” Nalan Qing’s intuition kicked in. “For… a girl?”
Xu Ze gave her a quick glance and nodded without hesitation.
Nalan Qing felt a flicker of hope and awkwardly pointed at herself. “Is it for me?”
Xu Ze shook his head, smiling slightly. “It’s for the Holy Maiden. Her birthday is the day after tomorrow.”
Nalan Qing couldn’t hide her disappointment, but then something clicked.
She suddenly understood what her sister had meant by “shopping.” Could it be that Yun’er knew the Holy Maiden’s birthday was coming up? And that the Holy Son would need to buy her a gift, which is why he agreed to go out shopping with her?
Nalan Qing chuckled softly. Yun’er really had everything figured out.
Suppressing her sadness, Nalan Qing smiled and said, “Since it’s for the Holy Maiden’s birthday, I’ll help you pick out the perfect gift.”
“Oh?” Xu Ze raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised. He had thought Nalan Qing would react with jealousy like the others, but instead, she remained calm despite her slight discomfort.
“I know I don’t have a special place in your heart,” Nalan Qing admitted softly. “I don’t expect you to truly care for me. As long as you remember me, that’s enough.”
Lowering her head, Nalan Qing decided to reveal her feelings bare. She had given up on competing with Qu Qinghan and the others. The pain from her previous nine lives had taught her to be content as a silent observer.
Hearing Xu Ze once refer to her as “my woman” was enough to ease the knot in her heart, even if it had only been an excuse.
Yes, she was Xu Ze’s woman. She was in her past nine lives, and she was in this one too. That fact would never change, even if he never looked at her again.
Xu Ze sighed deeply.
He reached into his storage ring and pulled out a gemstone necklace he had bought during the Hundred Flowers Festival outside the Holy Mountain. The necklace had ten gems, each a different color, representing the personalities of ten heroines: red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple, brown, pink, black, and white. Four necklaces had already been given to their respective owners, but Xu Ze kept the remaining six with him.
“Holy Son, this is…” Nalan Qing’s eyes widened in shock as Xu Ze took out an orange gemstone pendant and fastened it around her neck.
“A gift for you.” Xu Ze said softly.
Nalan Qing clutched the orange gem tightly, as if she were holding the most precious treasure in the world. Orange, the warmest of colors, symbolized abundance, joy, and fulfillment. Though it was only a simple piece of jade in the mortal realm, to Nalan Qing, it was priceless.
“Thank you, Lord Holy Son…” Nalan Qing whispered, lowering her head as her cheeks turned a deep shade of red. She tugged at her hair in an attempt to hide her shy smile, but to Xu Ze, it only made her look more endearing, like a delicate doll finally free of her burdens.
Seeing her like this, Xu Ze felt a sense of relief. He gently wiped away the tears forming at the corners of her eyes.
“Alright, alright,” Nalan Qing said, regaining her composure as she noticed the glances of passersby.
With a blush on her face, she held Xu Ze’s hand on her face and whispered, “There are so many people watching. Let’s focus on finding the Holy Maiden’s gift.”
Xu Ze nodded, and they continued their walk.
Nalan Qing, familiar with the Nalan Merchant Guild, led Xu Ze confidently. As a woman herself, she understood what might appeal to the Holy Maiden. “Holy Son, if I were the Holy Maiden, it wouldn’t matter how rare or expensive the gift is. What matters is that it comes from you. No girl could refuse such a gift.”
She guided him into a nearby spiritual weapon shop. “Boss, do you have any ‘Thousands of Worlds’ available?” she asked at the counter.
Recognizing her, the shopkeeper didn’t hesitate. “Of course, Miss Nalan,” he replied, retrieving a small, elegant sandalwood box from the shelf. “Here it is.”
Nalan Qing hurried over to Xu Ze and opened the box to reveal a crystal ball, empty and unassuming. Xu Ze’s eyes lit up.
The “Thousands of Worlds” was no ordinary object. Though it looked like a simple crystal ball, it contained an expansive ecological space. One could capture spiritual beasts, gather rare plants, and place them inside, creating a vibrant world within. Xu Ze admired its craftsmanship.
Before he could pay, Nalan Qing quickly placed spirit stones on the counter, surprising Xu Ze.
She blushed and smiled shyly. “Your money is my money, and my money is your money, Holy Son. It doesn’t matter who spends it.”
The spiritual weapon shop owner, witnessing this sweet interaction, couldn’t help but feel like he’d been fed a mouthful of dog food. As the couple left, his jaw dropped, unable to contain his shock.
