The Transmigrated Villain, and the Reborn Heroines - Chapter 81:
Chapter 81:
Zhang Mu turned his head and saw the beautiful yet somewhat cold face of the police officer, Liu Shihan, just inches away.
Her pretty eyes carried a hint of concern as she asked, “Are you uncomfortable sitting here? Thirsty? Do you need a drink? You don’t get carsick, do you? I have some floral water if you’d like me to spray a little.”
Hearing this unusually gentle and caring tone from Liu Shihan, the deputy director typically known for her stern, impartial demeanor, left the other police officers in the front seats stunned.
“What’s going on here? Has the ‘Ice Queen’ suddenly turned soft?” they thought.
With her stunning looks and figure, Liu Shihan could easily be called a super beauty, and she had no shortage of admirers, probably as many as her sister, Liu Shixuan.
However, as a police officer, not many dared to confess their feelings to her. Not only was she a deputy director, but she was also known as the ‘Cold-Faced Demoness,’ always impartial, treating everyone equally, even if it was a member of her own Liu family. She wouldn’t hesitate to arrest any of them for any wrongdoing.
But now, seeing Liu Shihan treat Zhang Mu, a notorious playboy, so kindly, left everyone in shock.
The officers couldn’t help but wonder, “Could it be that Officer Liu Shihan has feelings for Zhang Mu?
That’s impossible! This guy may be handsome, but he’s a spoiled rich kid, the type Liu Shihan despises the most!”
Zhang Mu himself was bewildered. He didn’t believe Liu Shihan would be interested in him, as her character in the original novel was that of a beauty who detested evil. Coming from a prestigious family, she had a strong disdain for spoiled rich heirs. Only someone like the main protagonist, Ye Feng, with his unassuming exterior and exceptional abilities, could catch her interest.
Someone like him?
She probably arrested hundreds like him every year, and the playboys of the capital trembled at the mention of her name. Such a woman would never fall for him.
Zhang Mu was certain her kindness had an ulterior motive. She must have a plan or scheme aimed at him. Reflecting on their past encounters, Liu Shihan had arrested him a few times before and treated him with nothing but hostility. Due to his family’s influence, Zhang Mu, unlike most rich heirs, was always released the same day he was arrested, which only deepened Liu Shihan’s negative impression of him. She’d even said she’d find a way to bring him down completely one day.
Now Zhang Mu understood her strategy.
She was likely trying to lure him into a trap with kindness, making him drop his guard so she could pull him in for questioning once they got back to the station.
Liu Shihan, being both a police officer and a deputy director with her own influential background, would certainly have plenty of tactics up her sleeve. She might plan to make him stay detained for a week or two.
Zhang Mu realized the novel’s plot was beginning to unfold. As the designated villain, he was destined to face challenges.
Turning his gaze toward Ye Feng and then back at Liu Shihan, Zhang Mu realized these female leads would always go to great lengths to protect Ye Feng and scheme against him. After all, as the designated villain, he was there to be manipulated.
Meanwhile, Liu Shihan, unaware of his thoughts, noticed his cautious demeanor, a glimmer of regret and sympathy flashing in her eyes.
Memories of her previous misunderstandings about Zhang Mu surfaced, stirring emotions she wanted to express, yet she held back. All of it translated into a simple, gentle question, “Would you like a drink of water?”
Saying this, she handed Zhang Mu her own water bottle.
“Sure!” Zhang Mu accepted it readily. Now that he understood her game, he felt no fear. If Liu Shihan wanted to manipulate him, he’d play along. He’d let her show him as much kindness as she wanted and then wait for her to try and catch him off guard. It would allow the plot to progress smoothly. A few weeks in detention wouldn’t be so bad.
He thought, “Ah, there’s something reliable about the stern and calculating policewoman lead. The fresh-faced school beauty types are too young and naive by comparison.”
When Zhang Mu casually took her personal water bottle, unscrewed the lid, and drank from it, Liu Shihan’s usually serious and cold face flushed slightly. That bottle was her own, with traces of her lips on the mouthpiece. Watching Zhang Mu drink from it now felt like an indirect kiss, which made her feel unexpectedly shy.
Meanwhile, the two officers driving in front noticed Zhang Mu using Liu Shihan’s water bottle. They were far less composed, utterly shocked by the sight.
The always cold and distant ‘Ice Queen’ of the department had handed her personal water bottle to this notorious playboy! The same Liu Shihan that almost every single male officer idolized was acting strangely kind toward him.
In the front, one of the officers kept glancing back, staring blankly at the rearview mirror, forgetting to drive.
Liu Shihan returned to her cold tone, “What are you staring at? Drive.”
“Yes, ma’am!” The officer snapped back to reality, nervous sweat breaking out as he quickly answered.
Outside, Liu Shixuan noticed the car was about to start moving, and she felt a twinge of concern. She knew her sister’s reputation as a strict, unsentimental person.
Despite having vouched for Zhang Mu earlier, she worried he might still face some issues with her sister. After all, Liu Shihan had always harbored some hostility toward him.
Seeing the vehicle about to depart, Liu Shixuan hurried up to the window, calling out to her sister, “Sister! I want to go too! Take me to the station with you!”
Both Zhang Mu and Liu Shihan looked at her in surprise.
