Chapter 82:

Upon seeing her sister, Liu Shixuan, suddenly approaching, Liu Shihan frowned and asked in confusion, “Why are you following me to the station?”

Liu Shixuan replied, “Well… I’m also one of the witnesses today, so of course, I need to go too!”

Hearing Liu Shixuan’s words, Liu Shihan furrowed her eyebrows even more. She knew her sister well and could tell that Liu Shixuan wasn’t being entirely truthful. It seemed like something was weighing on her mind.

Liu Shihan glanced back at Ye Feng, who was sitting in the backseat. He was no longer struggling, but still looked quite agitated.

At this moment, she understood—it appeared her sister was concerned about this Ye Feng.

Liu Shihan knew about Ye Feng being pen pals with her sister, Liu Shixuan. Although she didn’t know why her sister didn’t defend Ye Feng today, she recalled that in their past life, Liu Shixuan wasn’t very fond of Zhang Mu, and she had some sort of connection with Ye Feng.

Liu Shixuan’s presence would definitely affect the investigation, and Liu Shihan didn’t want Zhang Mu to face any complications because of this. So, she directly refused, “There’s no need, Shixuan. Just head home. I know what I’m doing with this case; I don’t need your help.”

“…”

Liu Shixuan wanted to say something more, but her sister Liu Shihan had already signaled the officer in the front to start the car. As she watched the police car drive away, Liu Shixuan was filled with worry but felt helpless at the same time.

“Sigh! Sister, you better not mistreat Zhang Mu! Otherwise, I will hate you forever!”

Liu Shixuan clenched the hem of her dress in frustration. Nevertheless, she decided to go home and figure out how she could help Zhang Mu later.

Meanwhile, in the car, Liu Shihan let out a sigh of relief. Fortunately, she had solved the issue of bringing her sister, Liu Shixuan, to the station. She didn’t want Liu Shixuan’s feelings for Ye Feng to cause any problems for Zhang Mu. Now that the matter was settled, she felt more at ease.

Zhang Mu, sitting on the side, observed the entire exchange between the sisters. He was naturally supportive of Liu Shihan. After all, Liu Shixuan was still too young and immature. Apart from her cute, delicate appearance and those small tiger-like teeth, she didn’t have any other qualities. Even those tiger teeth might not be considered a plus.

Liu Shihan, on the other hand, was mature and coldly beautiful, with a sharp mind. She was so meticulous in plotting his plotline and helping him progress the plot—it couldn’t be better!

Noticing Zhang Mu’s gaze on her, Liu Shihan’s cheeks flushed slightly, but she pretended to remain calm, not wanting to startle him.

“Don’t worry; it’s nothing serious.” She said nonchalantly.

Zhang Mu, who had already figured out Liu Shihan’s intentions, didn’t have any concerns. He crossed his legs and chuckled carefreely, “Why would I worry? I haven’t done anything wrong.”

“Mm-hmm!” Liu Shihan nodded in agreement. In this life, she wouldn’t allow her kind and lovely Zhang Mu to suffer any harm again. She had to treat him extremely well!

On the way to the police station, Zhang Mu noticed that Liu Shihan was indeed very attentive to him, constantly asking about his comfort.

“Are you tired? Let me adjust the seat for you.”

“Sure, go ahead.”

“My legs feel a bit cramped. The space here is a bit tight.”

“Okay, Officer Xiao Li, can you move your seat forward?”

“And your shoulders? Do they feel sore? Do you want a massage?”

“Massage!”

Throughout the journey, Liu Shihan took care of Zhang Mu with meticulous attention, almost like a doting elder sister. Zhang Mu, seeing this, accepted it all without worry. After all, he knew Liu Shihan was just pretending to be nice to him, trying to play the emotional card while secretly scheming against him. Naturally, he wouldn’t expose her plan—he would play along.

Outwardly, Zhang Mu acted arrogant and confident, as if he believed Liu Shihan was being cautious because of the Zhang family’s influence. The two police officers in the front witnessed the situation and were completely stunned. After all, it was Chief Liu. They didn’t dare to say anything but could only watch, feeling a mixture of envy and jealousy.

Soon, the car arrived at the police station. Zhang Mu, prepared for the next part of the drama, got out of the car, ready for Liu Shihan to suddenly turn against him. As expected, Liu Shihan stepped out with a cold expression, her beautiful face covered in frost. However, to Zhang Mu’s surprise, she didn’t act against him but turned to the two police officers behind them and said, “Take Ye Feng inside and prepare to put him in the holding cell.”

Then, she turned back to Zhang Mu, her icy expression melting away as she smiled warmly. “Come on, follow me inside. The room is spacious and has a sofa—much more comfortable than the car.”

Zhang Mu: “??!”

‘Is she still acting?

Did I not act arrogant enough just now? Does she still need more reason to convict me? Maybe she plans to detain me for ten days or so.’

Zhang Mu watched Liu Shihan, who seemed to be holding back her emotions, and silently pondered. In the end, he decided to follow her into the police station. As he walked behind her, his gaze unintentionally fell on Liu Shihan’s figure—her uniform couldn’t hide her curvy waist and hips, which were truly eye-catching. It was hard to look away.

There was no denying it—the original novel’s description of Liu Shihan, the police flower protagonist, was spot on. She had an excellent figure, voluptuous but not overweight or bulky. Zhang Mu couldn’t help but think, should he play the role of a lecherous scoundrel and make a move on Liu Shihan, forcing her to arrest him to advance the plot?

But knowing Liu Shihan’s cold and ruthless character from the original novel, Zhang Mu realized that if he actually tried that, she wouldn’t just arrest him—she might shoot him on the spot! Dying would mean starting over, and that definitely wasn’t worth it.

Unbeknownst to Zhang Mu, Liu Shihan, walking ahead of him, was also feeling nervous and flustered. Especially when she noticed Zhang Mu’s gaze lingering on her back, her cheeks blushed even more.

Ever since she reached adulthood, she had struggled to control her weight, gaining a bit. Now, standing in front of him, the man she had been thinking about day and night, she felt insecure.

Zhang Mu… would he secretly dislike her for being overweight?

Both of them, with their own thoughts, one in front and one behind, walked into the police station. Inside, Zhang Mu had been expecting Liu Shihan to turn against him by now, but to his surprise, she poured him a cup of water before turning around with a smile and saying, “Come on, let’s go into the room and take your statement.”

Hearing Liu Shihan’s gentle and sweet voice, Zhang Mu couldn’t help but complain in his heart. This was clearly a serious matter, heading into the interrogation room to give a statement, but the way she spoke—it sounded like a wife inviting her husband into the bedroom at night!

“Come on, let’s go inside.”

“I don’t think I can handle this today…”

Although the situation felt strange, Zhang Mu wasn’t in a rush. He obediently followed Liu Shihan into the interrogation room, thinking that she would soon flip her demeanor and confront him. Inside the small room, they sat across from each other, with Liu Shihan holding a notebook in her hand. As she looked at Zhang Mu, who was sitting quietly on the chair, she couldn’t help but be distracted, recalling moments from their past life.

It was also in this interrogation room, this small space, where they had faced each other like this before. How many times had it been? Once… twice… three times…

He had always been so cooperative and obedient. She regretted how harshly she had treated him during those past interrogations. Now, she knew everything—she finally understood.

Thankfully, he was still alive in this life, so there was still time to make things right!
