Chapter 14: Let Your Daughter Be My Maid

“Patriarch, why are we returning to Lingfeng City?” At the city gates, a Yang Family clansman asked Yang Tianchuan, his tone full of confusion.

The others also turned their gazes toward him, clearly sharing the same doubts.

Yang Tianchuan sighed and said, “Where else can we go with so many people? Other than returning to Lingfeng City, I can’t think of another option.” The Yang Family was too large to move unnoticed. Unless he scattered them and let everyone fend for themselves, they would draw attention wherever they went.

When leaving Black Cloud City, Yang Tianchuan had left informants behind. Two days ago, he received word that every major faction in Black Cloud City had already learned the Yang Family had obtained a Thousand-Year Vermilion Fruit. They were on their way to hunt them down. Returning to Lingfeng City was a gamble for survival.

“You first take the clansmen to the old estate. I’ll head to the Qin Family.”

An elder frowned, “Patriarch, you want to beg the Qin Family for help? Will they even help us? Our relationship hasn’t exactly been good…”

Yang Tianchuan gritted his teeth and said, “We have no choice. We must try. If it fails, I’ll scatter the clan and let them escape separately. When my son grows strong enough, we’ll regroup.”

Inside the Qin Family’s grand hall, Qin Xiao sat at the head seat, staring strangely at Yang Tianchuan who had come to seek an audience. He was puzzled—why would Yang Tianchuan come to the Qin Family after leaving more than a year ago?

“What are you doing here?” Qin Xiao asked, confused.

“I’m here to beg Uncle Qin for help!” Yang Tianchuan stepped forward, bit his teeth, and suddenly knelt down before Qin Xiao.

“Uncle Qin?” Qin Xiao was taken aback. Their two families hadn’t been on good terms. In fact, the Yang Family had been forced out of Lingfeng City by the Qin Family. Yet here Yang Tianchuan was, calling him uncle and asking for aid. Was this a joke?

“Did you get confused? With our history, you came to the Qin Family for help?” Qin Xiao asked, incredulous. Seeking help from an enemy?

Yang Tianchuan lowered his head and said, “I heard from my father that our two families used to be close. It was only later, due to some misunderstanding, that things turned sour…”

Qin Xiao cut him off, “Stop! Do you even know why our families had that so-called misunderstanding?”

Yang Tianchuan fell silent, then admitted, “Not very clear.”

Qin Xiao chuckled coldly. “Fine. Then stop playing the emotional card. Tell me directly why you’ve come to my Qin Family, and what you can offer in return.”

Yang Tianchuan took a breath and said, “Our Yang Family obtained a Thousand-Year Vermilion Fruit, but the news leaked to the forces in Black Cloud City. They’re chasing us, and they’re on their way here…”

Qin Xiao’s eyes lit up. “Your family actually got a Thousand-Year Vermilion Fruit?” 

This treasure was valuable even to him. It could improve his talent and increase his strength. If not for himself, giving it to his sons could ensure the birth of another Innate Realm expert.

But Yang Tianchuan quickly added, “That Vermilion Fruit has already been consumed by my son.”

Qin Xiao’s expression instantly turned cold. “Then what are you here for? The fruit’s already eaten, and now you want me to shield you? Are you joking, or trying to show off?” His tone grew sharp.

Cold sweat broke out on Yang Tianchuan’s forehead. He knew how selfish this looked—taking the benefit for himself while expecting others to shoulder the danger. No one would agree to that.

He pressed his forehead to the ground and said, “If Uncle Qin is willing to help us survive this calamity, our Yang Family will become the Qin Family’s vassal, obeying your commands.”

Qin Xiao leaned back in his chair, deep in thought. 

The offer didn’t particularly move him. 

Once Yang Tianchuan’s son broke through to the Innate Realm, would they really still obey? Obviously not. Right now, they only wanted a backer.

But would Qin Xiao fear them turning on him? 

Not in the slightest. Once they submitted to the Qin Family, there was no way they would escape his control. And besides, granting them shelter was effortless. In exchange, he would gain loyal manpower to expand the Qin Family’s strength in Lingfeng City. It was a worthwhile deal.

Finally, he said slowly, “It’s not impossible for the Qin Family to protect you. But I have two conditions. First, the Yang Family must serve the Qin Family for 20 years, obeying every command without question. Second, you will give me your daughter to serve as my maid, staying by my side.”

He had already learned that Yang Tianchuan’s daughter was close to his so-called godson, Ye Tian. 

They grew up together like childhood sweethearts, and might have become a couple in the future. If Qin Xiao cut in now, who knew how much Fortune Point he could gain?

“What? Uncle Qin, I can agree to the first condition, but the second one…” Yang Tianchuan’s face stiffened when he heard Qin Xiao wanted his beloved daughter as a maid.

“If you don’t agree, then leave,” Qin Xiao said coldly, giving no room for negotiation. What he wanted, he would always take, no matter the cost. If Yang Tianchuan refused, Qin Xiao would simply let the Yang Family be wiped out by their pursuers. If necessary, he could even take matters into his own hands.

“Wait! Please don’t be angry, Uncle Qin. I agree!” Yang Tianchuan’s heart sank. He knew he had no right to refuse. Unless he was willing to sacrifice the entire Yang Family for his daughter, he had no choice but to accept.
