Chapter 29: So-called Fellow Disciples

Overwhelming pressure. Arrogant posture.

At this moment, Chichao finally understood—the once bullied, cowardly, humble Shen Lian had completely changed.

Those sharp, cold eyes burned with vengeance. If he didn’t cooperate, Shen Lian wouldn’t hesitate to snap his neck.

“I’ll talk… cough, cough…”

Under the suffocating force, Chichao finally gave in.

Shen Lian loosened his grip, giving him a brief moment to breathe.

He turned away, gently fanning himself, silently waiting for the answer.

“It was Senior Sister Lu, Senior Sister Liu, and Senior Sister Mu… they joined forces with the old ancestor to set all this up to eliminate obstacles for Junior Brother Ye.”

“The reason,” Shen Lian asked bluntly, wasting no words.

“A thousand years ago, the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion divined for the old ancestor. They predicted a Child of Destiny would join Heavenly Feather Sect, and that our sect would become a sacred ground for the righteous path. But Ye Fan’s path was blocked. Anyone hindering his rise had to be removed.”

“So Shen Yunchu became the one blocking Ye Fan’s ascension?”

“I don’t know for sure. All I know is that Sect Master Shen repeatedly disobeyed the old ancestor. She refused to accept Ye Fan as a disciple, and the old ancestor feared she would break free from her control. That’s why this trap was set.”

“Hah… all because of that scammer from Heavenly Secrets Pavilion, they were willing to destroy a sect master? Truly worthy of being called the old lantern. Then what about those seven white-eyed wolves—why were they involved?”

Chichao was caught off guard.

Shen Lian… actually called those seven ‘white-eyed wolves’?

This was the same Shen Lian who, no matter how badly those women abused him, always took the blame with a submissive attitude, never uttering a complaint.

Could it be… he had finally let go?

Still seeing no response behind him, Shen Lian calmly added, “Do I need to ask a second time?”

That calm tone carried terrifying killing intent.

Startled, Chichao quickly said, “The seven Senior Sisters have long held resentment toward the Sect Master. She possesses the Spirit Phoenix Immortal Body—rumored to be a perfect furnace physique. They once suggested she dual cultivate with Ye Fan to boost his cultivation. But she scolded them for being shameless and even attacked them. If not for the old ancestor’s intervention, they would have died by her sword. Since then, they’ve held a grudge.”

“And because the Sect Master always protected you, they couldn’t strike you directly. So this time… they decided to ruin her purity instead.”

Shen Lian tilted his head slightly, giving Chichao a mocking glance.

“So you followed along and tried to frame Shen Yunchu too, didn’t you?”

Chichao struggled to move but realized he no longer had arms. He could only lean against the tree trunk, begging pitifully, “Junior Brother Shen, it was all the old ancestor and those Senior Sisters! Please… for the sake of our fellow discipleship, spare me. I’m already crippled. I’ve suffered my punishment… please, don’t make it worse.”

“Hmph.”

Shen Lian snorted coldly, looking toward the low-level magical beasts beginning to gather, drawn by the scent of blood.

“Take a good look around. Over a thousand Heavenly Feather Sect disciples—your so-called fellow disciples—were all personally killed by me, their bodies reduced to dust. And now, you think you can talk to me about the bonds of fellowship? Don’t you find that laughable?”

He walked slowly to the side of the ghost carriage and gently patted the spirit horse.

“If our roles were reversed today… would you spare me?”

“Chichao, Shen Yunchu may be quiet by nature, but she’s always fulfilled her duties to the sect. She entrusted Divine Command Peak to you because she believed in you. And you… for the sake of clinging to the so-called ‘Child of Destiny’… chose to conspire with animals.”

“Even if the heavens forgive you, I won’t.”

At those words, Chichao’s face turned ashen.

“Sometimes… people are worse than beasts. This spirit horse has only known me for three days, but it’s completely loyal. Meanwhile, all your so-called brotherhoods… all you did was plot and betray. It’s truly pathetic… and disgusting.”

Stepping into the carriage, Shen Lian lifted the curtain and added one final line.

“Don’t worry. I promised not to kill you. But I never said you wouldn’t die today. Face your last moments properly.”

The next moment, the ghost carriage sped off, hooves pounding the earth.

“Huff…”

Chichao, who had been holding his breath the entire time, finally let it out.

At his cultivation level, longevity was everything. Even crippled, he could survive for nearly a thousand more years, as long as his foundation remained.

But—

“Woof! Woof!”

A series of blood-chilling barks echoed in his ears.

Looking up, Chichao’s eyes widened in horror.

Dozens of low-grade wild dogs had appeared out of nowhere, baring their teeth with murderous glints in their eyes, staring him down.

“No—don’t come near! Get back, GET BACK!”

Death loomed over him. He screamed and roared, trying to scare them off.

He looked back at the slowly departing carriage, only now realizing Shen Lian never intended to let him live.

“Shen Lian, you liar—!”

“Woof! Woof!”

Just as he roared toward the sky, two 2nd-grade wild dogs lunged forward, biting into his only remaining leg.

“AH—NO!”

“Woof!”

With a bone-chilling scream, the rest of the wild dogs swarmed in, tearing into his flesh and blood.

“I was wrong, Junior Brother Shen! I was wrong! Please save me!”

“Aaaaaah—!”

As the dogs devoured him, Chichao’s flesh turned to a blur of red. His cries faded as he was slowly dragged deeper into the forest. One final crunch snapped his neck, ending his disgraceful life.

Back in the carriage, Shen Lian felt Chichao’s life aura vanish—and smiled faintly.

“Three of the Five Peak Masters are gone. Two remain. I wonder what the old lantern will look like when she leaves seclusion and sees Heavenly Feather Sect in shambles.”

“No rush. I’ll strip away everything you people cherish, one by one… and watch you fall into despair beneath my feet. Hahahaha—!”

His maniacal laughter echoed as the ghost carriage, sensing its master’s delight, quickened its pace and rushed deeper into the Monster Beast Mountain Range.

Meanwhile, at the second line of defense near the seal, the Spirit Treasure Peak Master of Heavenly Feather Sect, Lin Zhi, had just slain a charging magical beast.

Suddenly, a wave of discomfort surged in his chest.

“What’s this? Why am I feeling short of breath all of a sudden?”

While puzzled, the Blade Peak Master, Hu Yanlie, rushed over.

“Old Lin, what’s going on here?”

“Nothing much. You?”

“Heh, same. The beasts nearby are all cleared out. Once the cavern is sealed, our job’s done.”

“Right. Don’t forget to activate the barrier. Don’t let outsiders near and ruin what our Senior Sisters are planning.”

“Relax. Everything’s been arranged. Once this is over… maybe we’ll get a taste of the Sect Master’s… enchanting figure.”

“Hehehe…”

The two men leered, laughing obscenely.

Clatter-clatter—

Suddenly, the deathly roar of iron hooves surged from the distance, tearing through the sky like thunder.

“Who’s there?!”

Lin Zhi and Hu Yanlie both turned in shock.

“Plotting and scheming… how laughable!”

The reply came in the form of a deafening shockwave.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

In an instant, hundreds of Heavenly Feather Sect disciples around them couldn’t withstand the pressure and exploded on the spot.

“Who are you?!”

Hu Yanlie clutched his ears and shouted in fury.

“The Reaper sending you two trash to the underworld!”

As the voice fell, two terrifying palm strikes burst from the ghost carriage.

Boom! Boom!

Lin Zhi and Hu Yanlie tried to block them, but both were sent flying, their internal organs crushed.

Boom—

The next second, the ghost carriage smashed into them, hurling their bodies high into the sky.
