Chapter 102: Public Revelation—Chen Lang Is Single Again:

Inside the café, Xiao Mingyue sat across from Cheng Jinjin. Though she still carried her usual air of elegance and cold nobility, there was a visible trace of sorrow in her eyes. Her relationship with Chen Lang had become chaotic lately—like being trapped in a dead end.

The first crisis happened just before the bonfire party, when she found a pair of Bai Luobing’s stockings in Chen Lang’s sports car. She had been furious and heartbroken, only to be moved later by the words Chen Lang spoke on stage.

She had convinced herself it was just a misunderstanding, believing things would slowly mend.

But instead, the hits kept coming.

First, it was Tang Xiaofu—the school beauty of NTU. Her heartfelt confession at the school celebration had gone viral online. Then came another blow: that morning, she had seen Tang Xiaofu at Chen Lang’s villa, wearing an apron and making breakfast like a little housewife.

That image still haunted her.

By then, communication between her and Chen Lang had started to fade. But the final blow?

The Jiang family’s press conference.

There, she saw Chen Lang step onto the stage as the mysterious major shareholder—clearly in partnership with Jiang Mengyao.

The worst part? She hadn’t even known in advance.

It was obvious now: their marriage was in deep trouble. Maybe the cracks had always been there… but now, Bai Luobing, Tang Xiaofu, and Jiang Mengyao had ripped the veil right off.

If Chen Lang truly loved her, these women wouldn’t be an issue.

But the problem was—she didn’t even know what Chen Lang was thinking anymore. The communication between them had all but vanished.

…

Across the table, Cheng Jinjin scooped up her tiramisu in small bites, frowning with concern as she listened.

“So… what do you plan to do next?” she asked softly.

Xiao Mingyue shook her head, her voice barely audible. “I don’t know…”

Cheng Jinjin looked even more worried. “Mingyue, your situation is way too complicated. It’s giving me a headache just listening to it.”

Just then, a figure outside the café window made her freeze.

She nudged Xiao Mingyue urgently.

“Mingyue… isn’t that Chen Lang?”

They both turned toward the glass.

Outside, at the entrance to the shopping mall, Chen Lang was standing there—alone. He looked like he was waiting for someone. Several shopping bags hung from his arms, and he held two cups of milk tea.

…

Chen Lang was quite speechless himself.

He looked at the bags hanging from his arms. Jiang Mengyao had gone on a shopping spree without restraint. She bought everything she liked.

Originally, they had split the bags evenly. But now that she had gone to the restroom, she dumped everything on him—including two half-finished cups of milk tea.

He stood there bored, glancing around.

Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted two familiar figures.

His heart skipped a beat.

Oh no.

Of all people to run into now…

He instantly panicked—but forced a sunny smile on his face and walked over.

“Mingyue, Jinjin! What a coincidence. You’re shopping too? What a small world!”

Cheng Jinjin gave him a wry smile in return.

But Xiao Mingyue stared at him, eyes suspicious.

“Are you shopping with someone?”

Chen Lang visibly stiffened.

She could clearly tell he wasn’t just out for a stroll. He was obviously waiting for someone.

Then her gaze dropped to the two milk tea cups in his hands.

One had a cartoon boy printed on it, the other a cartoon girl. When the two cups were placed together, the characters would appear to kiss, and a heart would form in the background.

Xiao Mingyue’s expression grew even colder.

Chen Lang felt his scalp tingle. His instincts screamed that something was about to go very, very wrong.

“Uh… I’m here with a colleague.”

“Colleague?” Xiao Mingyue frowned deeper.

Chen Lang didn’t have a job, so where would his “colleagues” come from?

Oh, right… he had recently become the major shareholder of the Jiang family. So, this “colleague” must mean—

“You’re shopping with Jiang Mengyao?”

Damn.

He’d been so vague, and she still figured it out?

“We’re just doing some market research,” he explained quickly. “You know, since we’re starting a new company, we have to study the market. Shopping was just a convenient excuse…”

He was still rambling when—

Jiang Mengyao walked out of the mall.

Xiao Mingyue and Cheng Jinjin were stunned the moment they saw her.

White short-sleeved top, pleated tennis skirt, long legs in sneakers, soft air bangs…

Was this still the Jiang Mengyao they knew—the queen of the underworld who used to stride around in black leather and radiate danger?

Xiao Mingyue’s brows furrowed deeply.

Just her outfit alone told a story.

Gone was the aloof, cold style. Now it was all youthful charm and romantic flair.

And those milk teas in Chen Lang’s hands?

There was no need for any further explanation.

Jiang Mengyao looked at the two women and smiled in surprise. “Oh, Xiao Mingyue and Cheng Jinjin? What a coincidence. Out shopping too?”

The word “too” carried a subtle jab.

Cheng Jinjin, noticing Xiao Mingyue’s wounded expression, immediately jumped to her friend’s defense. She pointed at Jiang Mengyao and snapped:

“Jiang Mengyao, you homewrecker! Hooking up with someone else’s husband?!”

Jiang Mengyao raised an eyebrow and laughed. “Come on, we all know whether Chen Lang and Xiao Mingyue are really married or not. There’s no need to throw that at me.”

Chen Lang was completely numb at this point.

Xiao Mingyue’s expression reminded him too much of that heartbreaking moment in the car—her tears, her hurt.

It was a scene he never wanted to relive.

And worse—Cheng Jinjin had just shouted loudly enough for passersby to hear.

Words like homewrecker and husband had already started to attract attention.

Chen Lang was a trending figure right now.

If this drama went online, the fallout would be massive… and uncontrollable.

Chen Lang made up his mind in an instant—long pain was worse than short pain.

He turned to Jiang Mengyao and Cheng Jinjin and said calmly, “You two go ahead.”

Then, without giving anyone a chance to react, he took Xiao Mingyue by the hand and led her straight to his sports car.

Jiang Mengyao and Cheng Jinjin were caught off guard. Before they could say anything, Xiao Mingyue had already been pulled away. The two women exchanged glances, then huffed and turned their heads, clearly displeased.

…

Out on the street, the engine of the sports car roared as it carved a sleek arc through the city. Inside the car, Xiao Mingyue glanced at Chen Lang.

“Where are we going?” she asked softly.

Chen Lang remained silent.

…

That afternoon, outside a civil affairs bureau.

Chen Lang and Xiao Mingyue walked out side by side, each holding a small, bright red booklet in hand.

A divorce certificate.

Xiao Mingyue stared down at the certificate. Her emotions were tangled—there was sadness, but also… a strange sense of release. The weight pressing down on her chest had quietly lifted.

The suffocating silence between them finally broke.

Chen Lang gently placed a hand on her shoulder, and with a tone matching his “character,” he said the lines he knew he was supposed to say. It sounded like the final words of an epitaph for this brief and twisted marriage.

“Mingyue… I know you never liked me. So today, I’m giving you your freedom. A twisted melon doesn’t taste sweet—I don’t want to see you sad anymore.”

…

On the way back that afternoon, Chen Lang was unusually quiet.

After dropping Xiao Mingyue off, he returned to his villa, making sure no one was around.

And then—

“WUUUUUUUUUU!!”

He let out a dramatic wolf howl, collapsing onto the sofa.

He’d made the decision with resolve, telling himself it was for the best: cut the knot, end the pain early.

Now that he thought about it, it was absolutely the right move.

He really didn’t want to see Xiao Mingyue heartbroken because of him. If they hadn’t divorced today, and she saw Jiang Mengyao’s outfit just now…

That kind of sadness would’ve been unavoidable.

Breaking up now was the cleanest way to let go—for both of them.

More importantly, the timing was perfect.

If he had divorced earlier, then what was the point of going on stage and saying all those cringeworthy romantic lines at the celebration party? That would’ve made no sense, especially for someone with a “dog-licking” persona.

But now?

Now, it was different.

In the original plot, after being repeatedly rejected by Xiao Mingyue, the “dog-licking” Chen Lang’s heart began to darken. That led to the infamous kidnapping plot and his eventual turn into a villain.

If he didn’t divorce now, that tragic sequence would begin.

So this was perfect.

Divorce first, spiral later.

Everything was back on track.

Chen Lang patted himself mentally. Great job, timing master.

Most importantly, the way they ended it wasn’t heartbreaking or messy—it felt natural, even gentle. This was likely the most peaceful way to conclude this twisted marriage.

Even though he felt liberated inside, he still wore the expression of a heartbroken man on the outside.

He waved to Butler Xiao Zhang.

“Spread the word in high society. Let everyone know that Chen Lang and Xiao Mingyue’s marriage has ended.”

“Right now, Chen Lang is devastated and drowning his sorrows in alcohol, completely dejected.”

“Make sure they believe it.”

After Xiao Zhang left, Chen Lang popped open a bottle of champagne and poured himself a drink.

Why release the news?

Simple.

He wanted everyone to know that his plotline was finally back on track.

The biggest mistake so far had been corrected.

He took a relaxed sip and laid back on the sofa, feet up, finally feeling free.

…

As evening approached, a beautiful figure stepped into the villa.

Short sleeves, pleated skirt, sneakers, soft air bangs—

If not Jiang Mengyao, who else?

She claimed she was there to retrieve the things she bought.

Back at the mall earlier, when she had exchanged words with Cheng Jinjin at the entrance, she’d left everything with Chen Lang.

Then Chen Lang had taken Xiao Mingyue to get a divorce and stuffed all the shopping bags into his trunk.

Now, Jiang Mengyao collected her things—but didn’t leave.

She made herself comfortable on the sofa, sipping wine and chatting casually with Chen Lang about the company’s affairs.

…

Moments later, the roar of another engine echoed through the villa courtyard.

A sleek red sports car pulled up.

From it stepped another woman—this time exuding the aura of a confident city beauty. She wore a fitted blazer over a hip-hugging skirt, tall heels, perfect makeup, and those signature tassel earrings that swayed gently as she walked.

Bai Luobing had arrived.
