Chapter 65: Cheng Jinjin’s Late-Night Visit:

Late at night.

Inside the villa’s spacious room, the table was set with a bubbling pot of sukiyaki, its enticing aroma filling the air. Chen Lang and Chen Shihan, fresh from their jiu-jitsu practice, sat at the table, both with large appetites. Each held a cold beer, enjoying the meal after their workout.

(TN: Sukiyaki is a Japanese hot pot dish of thinly sliced meat or seafood, vegetables, and seasonings cooked together in a soy-based sauce)

Beside them, a classic love movie, Time Traveler, played on the projector. The cool beer, hot sukiyaki, a quiet night, and a heartwarming movie set the perfect atmosphere.

Chen Shihan, holding her beer, seemed a little tipsy. Her usual cold demeanor had softened, her cheeks flushed as she asked, “Do you think there’s really such a thing as time travel in this world?”

“Of course not,” Chen Lang replied, laughing. “It’s just a science fiction movie, all made up. You’ve had too much to drink, stop it already.”

Though he’d never seen time travel himself, Chen Lang mused internally that there were certainly parallel worlds. After all, he had traveled across multiple worlds and played the role of a villain each time.

Chen Shihan clinked her beer against his. “Here’s to us, and may we one day travel through time and space! So that life has fewer regrets!”

She chugged her beer down in one go.

“Hey, slow down!” Chen Lang said, worried.

She shot him a look of contempt. “Why are you acting like a mother hen? Just mind your own business.”

“I’m not trying to control you. I just don’t want to deal with you throwing up everywhere. I’m not cleaning it!” Chen Lang retorted.

Chen Shihan, in high spirits, drank quickly and, just as expected, got drunk just as fast. By the end of the evening, Chen Lang had to carry her upstairs to her room. After cleaning up, he went to his own bedroom, washed up, and laid down to rest. He had a big day ahead—there was an important birthday plotline that needed to unfold tomorrow.

Late into the night, a faint rustling sound interrupted the silence in his bedroom.

Chen Lang’s eyes snapped open in the darkness, immediately alert. He noticed that his bedroom window had been cracked open slightly. Then, through the opening, a wooden pipe extended inside, releasing a puff of smoke into the room.

Was someone breaking in?

He quickly detected the scent of herbs in the air. Thanks to his medical expertise, granted by Chi You’s combat body, Chen Lang realized it was some kind of drug. However, it had no effect on him due to his enhanced body.

He decided to play along, pretending to be asleep. He wanted to see who this mysterious intruder was.

After a few moments, the window opened fully, and a figure slipped into the room. The intruder wore a mini pink pig-nose mask, which had an air filter attached. The tight-fitting outfit left no doubt about the identity.

It was Cheng Jinjin.

What was she doing here, sneaking into his house in the middle of the night?

Cheng Jinjin tiptoed over to Chen Lang’s bedside, placing a finger under his nose to check if he was breathing. Chen Lang kept his breaths steady, convincing her he was fast asleep.

With a triumphant smile, Cheng Jinjin stood with her hands on her hips, clearly pleased with herself.

“What on earth is this girl up to?” Chen Lang thought, trying not to laugh at her antics.

After ensuring Chen Lang wouldn’t wake up, Cheng Jinjin began wandering around the room, making herself comfortable. She soon spotted a plate of dessert on the table, grabbed an egg tart, and ate it while casually strolling about.

“Hey, that’s my egg tart! Leave some for me!” Chen Lang thought, watching helplessly through half-closed eyes.

Cheng Jinjin, having finished her snack, started rummaging through the bookshelf. “Oh, what’s this?” she muttered, pulling out a VR headset. “An adult classic VR game, huh?”

Excited, she put the VR headset on and turned it on.

“Oh, wow! This is… intense!” she exclaimed as she immersed herself in the virtual world.

‘No! That’s my treasure! What is she doing?’ Chen Lang was torn between horror and disbelief.

After playing for a while, Cheng Jinjin shamelessly packed the VR headset and games into her bag. “Might as well take these with me.” She muttered.

‘Are you serious?!’ Chen Lang thought, feeling even more exasperated.

Continuing her search, Cheng Jinjin finally found something that caught her interest. “Aha! Got it!”

Chen Lang peeked through his half-closed eyes and saw her holding a small, broken gift box. It was the knock-off version of the “Red Whale Heart” necklace he had given Xiao Mingyue earlier that day.

‘Wait, why are you stealing that?’ Chen Lang thought, bewildered.

The Cheng family wasn’t short of money, so why would she want this cheap fake? The original necklace had already been auctioned off, but what she held now was a replica that cost next to nothing.

But Cheng Jinjin didn’t know that. She was quite satisfied with her prize, believing she had successfully completed her mission. Before leaving, she even snapped a few photos of Chen Lang’s sleeping posture for good measure. Then, she slipped back out through the window and disappeared into the night.

Chen Lang lay there speechless.

She stole the fake Red Whale Heart, ate two egg tarts, and even took his VR headset and games?

Was she that short on money?

…

Under the cover of night, Cheng Jinjin happily made her way back home, her bag full of her spoils. The highlight of her haul, of course, was the Red Whale Heart necklace.

She didn’t steal it because she needed the money. After all, she had watched Chen Lang pay 200 million at the auction for this necklace. She never doubted its authenticity.

The reason she decided to steal it stemmed from something she overheard at a café earlier that morning—rumors that Chen Lang planned to give the necklace to Mrs. Xiao, an elderly lady in the Xiao family, who was trying to force Xiao Mingyue into a loveless marriage.

Cheng Jinjin had no sympathy for the Xiao family.

In her view, the old lady didn’t need the necklace and could easily donate it to charity. And that’s exactly what Cheng Jinjin planned to do—sell it on the black market and donate the money to national charities, helping children in remote mountain areas.

Her Cheng family were experts in both medicine and martial arts, and Cheng Jinjin herself excelled in ancient martial arts. She had a particular talent for stealth and agility, making her a skilled thief who often targeted the rich and corrupt. She stole only stolen goods, ensuring that her victims wouldn’t dare to report her.

As Cheng Jinjin walked away from the villa, she smiled, thinking about how she had gotten the better of Chen Lang. But then, a devilish thought crept into her mind.

Wait, didn’t Sun Wukong steal peaches after knocking out the Seven Fairies?

The more she thought about it, the more mischievous she felt. Her cheeks flushed red as she battled the conflicting thoughts in her head. Eventually, the little devil on her shoulder won out. She quickly hid her bag, turned around, and headed back toward Chen Lang’s villa.

‘Chen Lang is fast asleep, after all. Why not leave him a little “surprise” while I’m here?’

Back in his room, Chen Lang was just starting to doze off when he heard the window creak open again.

Not again!

Cheng Jinjin slipped silently back into the room and walked straight toward the bed. Chen Lang barely had time to process what was happening when she lifted his blanket and climbed in next to him.

What in the world?!
