Chapter 80: Xiao Chen’s Alliance Strategy

Without hesitation, Chen Shihan kicked the door open with a flying leap.

She looked around. The room was empty except for Chen Lang, sitting on the bed and staring at her blankly. He held a phone in his hand, frozen mid-action. The two of them locked eyes in silence—the atmosphere instantly awkward.

Chen Shihan’s gaze fell on his phone, her expression filled with disdain.

“Wearing headphones while watching that kind of thing?”

Chen Lang: This is a huge misunderstanding!

The worst part was, he couldn’t even explain himself.

But he didn’t really bother arguing. “Mind your own business.”

Chen Shihan smirked, and as if suddenly recalling something amusing, her grin grew wider.

“What are you laughing at?” Chen Lang frowned.

“I’m just laughing… this ‘National Husband’ that the internet keeps praising? Turns out he’s just some loser watching shady videos in his room. Pathetic.”

Chen Lang: …

“To me, you’re nothing but a trashy older brother.”

After tossing that jab, she dragged her feet toward the door, grabbed a yogurt from the fridge, and stomped her way upstairs.

…

On the third floor, in her bedroom, Chen Shihan sat down at her desk, poked a straw into the yogurt, and took a big sip. She then unfolded her “relationship diagram” and resumed her analysis.

This time, she added an asterisk beside Tang Xiaofu’s name.

That day in the cafeteria, she had asked, “Do you like Chen Lang?” and Tang Xiaofu’s flustered, red-faced reaction had practically screamed ‘yes.’ The shy way she stammered through her excuse only confirmed it further.

In Chen Shihan’s mind, that was as good as a confession.

She circled Xiao Mingyue’s name again and again.

Previously, based on Chen Lang’s diary, she thought Xiao Mingyue would follow the plot and leave him. But she had underestimated her.

Now, the priority was clear—separate Xiao Mingyue from Chen Lang and get him back to being single.

Only then could the “warlords” emerge, and only then could the world be divided into Wei, Shu, and Wu.

Recently, Chen Shihan had been diving deep into history and military strategy.

She studied the Warring States period and the rise of master tacticians.

Su Qin, for instance, trained under the legendary Guiguzi and traveled between kingdoms, using diplomacy to unite six states against the powerful Qin. For fifteen years, Qin didn’t dare attack Hangu Pass.

Since the six kingdoms were vertically aligned on the map, the alliance was called Hezong—the “vertical alliance.”

Inspired by Su Qin’s brilliance, Chen Shihan decided to apply the same strategy to her own battlefield.

With a few quick strokes of her pen, she connected her name and Tang Xiaofu’s with an arrow labeled “Alliance.”

Then, she drew a sharp line directly targeting Xiao Mingyue—her version of Qin.

The plan was set: join forces to challenge Xiao Mingyue.

As for when to strike?

The upcoming NTU Centennial Gala would be perfect.

Every major graduate and donor would be invited. A public event, with a large audience, was the ideal battleground.

…

The next morning, at Nanjiang University—

In an empty classroom, Chen Shihan and Tang Xiaofu sat face to face.

Xiao Chen had officially begun her “matchmaking mission.”

“Xiaofu, do you know what’s wrong with love?”

“It’s when someone clearly likes someone but never says anything. Secret love is unreasonable—it’s the most miserable kind of love.”

“If you don’t confess, how will he ever know?”

“Do you know how many amazing couples missed their chance because they were too afraid to speak up?”

“Love is selfish! In the battlefield of love, you have to fight! You have to express yourself! You have to steal!”

“Xiaofu, you hear the applause, right? Go for it!”

She stared at Tang Xiaofu, eyes sparkling with passion.

Tang Xiaofu’s cheeks flushed pink. She sighed, “But Shihan, Chen Lang is married. Isn’t that… enough reason to let it go?”

Chen Shihan shot back instantly, “And you know it’s a fake marriage!”

“Huh?” Tang Xiaofu looked confused.

“Chen Lang is just a pawn in a political marriage. The Xiao family is using him to tie themselves to the Chen family.”

“Xiao Mingyue doesn’t love Chen Lang. She’s just using him to gain influence!”

“She doesn’t love him and still chose to marry him. Do you know what that is?”

Tang Xiaofu blinked, completely swept up in Chen Shihan’s passionate rhythm. “What… what is it?”

Chen Shihan slammed the desk. “It’s stealing what doesn’t belong to you!”

“She’s never even visited our home! They’ve been married this long, and I’ve never once seen her act like a proper wife. Not once! Can you believe that?!”

Then she paused, lowered her voice, and added meaningfully, “And besides… are you even sure Chen Lang likes Xiao Mingyue?”

This sentence was layered with hidden meaning—she was hinting at the diary they both had read.

They were both insiders, and they both knew—Chen Lang had no romantic feelings for Xiao Mingyue.

Tang Xiaofu looked stunned, lost in thought.

Chen Shihan leaned back in, reigniting her momentum.

“I’m telling you this because I care about Chen Lang! As his sister, I can’t stand watching that woman hold his future hostage!”

“I don’t want Xiao Mingyue as my sister-in-law—I want you!”

“W-what?” Tang Xiaofu blushed furiously, flustered by the sudden confession.

But Chen Shihan wasn’t done.

“You don’t understand how miserable he is right now.”

“He’s trapped in a loveless marriage. He’s called the ‘National Husband’ on the outside, but behind closed doors…”

She leaned in and whispered, “…he’s so lonely, he watches those videos in his room.”

Tang Xiaofu’s eyes widened.

Chen Shihan grabbed her shoulders, her tone serious.

“Xiaofu, you have to save him!”

At that moment, Tang Xiaofu was completely overwhelmed by Chen Shihan’s relentless barrage of emotional persuasion. Her mind was spinning, and it felt like it would take a long time to process everything she had just heard.

Yet deep in her heart, a thought she had never dared to fully acknowledge… quietly awakened.

…

“Achoo! Achoo!”

Over at the Imperial Palace Villa, Chen Lang sneezed twice and rubbed his nose.

“Why does it feel like someone’s talking behind my back again?”

He glanced at the time—it was just past noon. He should start getting ready.

He had already promised to pick up Xiao Mingyue and attend the bonfire party that evening. On top of that, he was scheduled to join her on stage for a short speech.

As he sorted through his wardrobe, choosing the right outfit, his phone suddenly rang.

It was an unfamiliar number.

“Hello?”

A bright and lively female voice came through the speaker. “Hey, Chen Lang! Come pick me up from the Bai residence this afternoon. Let’s go to the bonfire party together!”

That voice…

Bai Luobing.

Chen Lang didn’t even hesitate—he hung up immediately.

But before he could put the phone down, it rang again. It was the same number.

As if anticipating his reaction, Bai Luobing said sharply, “If you dare hang up on me again, you’re dead! I’ll send that photo to Xiao Mingyue!”

“Do it,” Chen Lang replied coldly. “I’d love to see you try. Then Xiao Mingyue would divorce me, and the plot would be back on track!”

Unfortunately, no matter how much he wanted to say those words, Chen Lang couldn’t. His current ‘personality settings’ wouldn’t allow him to break character. He could only clench his teeth and play along.

Right now, he felt like a poor, frustrated soul hoping chaos would just happen naturally—yet unable to push it forward himself.

“I don’t have time to pick you up. I’m going to get Mingyue later,” he said stiffly.

But Bai Luobing’s tone turned sharper. “Chen Lang, I’m warning you. If you don’t come pick me up, this photo may find its way to Xiao Mingyue before the bonfire party.”

“…Fine. Wait for me at the gate. I’ll be there soon.”

Chen Lang hung up and stared at his screen in disbelief.

This girl’s really pushing her luck.

He hadn’t dealt with her before, so she thought she could use a simple photo to blackmail him? Ridiculous.

But she wouldn’t get away with it. Chen Lang had already decided—he was going to teach her a hard lesson today.

She needed to understand that Brother Lang isn’t someone to mess with.

…

A short while later, Chen Lang walked out of the house dressed in a high-end, custom-tailored suit. The suit shimmered with subtle diamond embellishments, luxurious without being flashy.

He got into his supercar, fired up the engine, and sped toward the Bai residence.

As he approached, he spotted her immediately.

Standing at the gate was Bai Luobing, poised and eye-catching.

When the car stopped in front of her, she casually opened the door and slipped into the passenger seat.

Today, Bai Luobing wore a pair of grey stockings—a color notoriously hard to pull off. Even slightly thicker legs could look bloated in that shade.

But on Bai Luobing, they looked perfect.

Paired with her sharp, tailored women’s suit, she was a vision of elegance and confidence. The outfit exuded a cool mystery, drawing the eyes in effortlessly.

“Well done,” she said, closing the door smoothly. “Keep it up, and come when I call you next time.”

Chen Lang glanced sideways at her, flashing a mischievous smile.

You’ll find out soon what it really means to “behave well.”

He pressed the pedal to the floor.

The supercar roared to life and tore away from the Bai residence in a blur of speed.
