What Do You Mean I’m Supposed to Be the Villain, But Everyone’s Chasing After Me? - Chapter 25:
Chapter 25: Unlike Me, I Only Feel Sorry for Brother~
Su Miaomiao knelt on the bed, propping her chin with one hand while pointing at Li Changju with the other, her tone full of resentment.
Li Changju frowned and muttered, “Sixth Senior Sister?”
Su Miaomiao pouted, “Brother Changju forgot? After Senior Sister and Second Senior Sister left, it was me and you… Hehehe…” She leaned closer, her warm breath brushing against his face.
Li Changju suddenly recalled last night’s events and slapped his forehead, “Damn, you really are Sixth Senior Sister!”
Su Miaomiao giggled, “Yes, it’s me, Su Miaomiao. Brother Changju, you really don’t remember me? It’s only been two months since we last met, and you’ve already forgotten me. That’s so heartbreaking…” She blinked her peach blossom eyes, looking pitiful and delicate.
“Stop, stop, stop!” Li Changju quickly raised his hand, “You’re saying you’re Su Miaomiao?” He was utterly confused. A spoiled young lady acting like a selfless little green tea? What kind of situation was this?
“Didn’t you say you wanted to break off our engagement? What’s going on here?” Li Changju asked as he looked at Su Miaomiao, who was wearing nothing but her undergarments.
Su Miaomiao glanced at her attire and replied coyly, “I only saw how pitiful Brother Changju looked after being abandoned by Senior Sister and Second Senior Sister. They really went too far, arguing over such a thing. I, the proper fiancée, didn’t even say a word, yet they still argued and left you heartbroken… Unlike me, I only feel sorry for Brother~”
Her tone turned so sweet that goosebumps spread all over Li Changju’s skin. He couldn’t help but shiver.
She continued softly, “Besides, how could Brother Changju misunderstand me like this… I never wanted to break off the engagement. The one I like has always been you.”
Li Changju was left speechless. Who was it two months ago that swore she’d never marry him in this lifetime? This change was faster than flipping a book.
Su Miaomiao raised her gaze at him, seeing his disbelief, and explained further, “Brother Changju, we’ve been childhood sweethearts, growing up together with a marriage contract between us. I’ve always loved you. How could I bear to break it off?”
In the original plotline, this marriage had been arranged by Li Changju’s adoptive parents and the Su family when they were children. Their families had close ties, and when Li Changju was ten, he and Su Miaomiao were engaged, waiting only to marry once they came of age.
Li Changju had never rejected this engagement, since Su Miaomiao had always been pretty. In their early years, she too had accepted it gladly and often carried herself as his fiancée after joining the sect. That was until Ye Yan appeared, when she suddenly became infatuated with him.
Two months ago, she even threatened to annul the engagement. Yet now, Su Miaomiao had changed again, even going as far as sealing things between them completely last night. No annulment anymore? Something was very wrong. There had to be a flaw somewhere.
Why were all the female characters’ personalities collapsing one after another? Could it be… that the damn author had turned him, the villain, into the protagonist instead? Had a useless-villain novel suddenly been rewritten into a villain-crushing-the-Child-of-Destiny novel? From what he knew about novels, this was entirely possible!
And such sudden character collapse in the female leads… could it be a diary trope? One where they all discovered the diaries he supposedly left behind, realized they had misunderstood him, and tried to make it up to him? But wait, he never kept a diary! What proper man would do that?
Then it must be the inner-thoughts trope! The most commonly used trick in villain novels!
“Brother Changju, why are you ignoring me? Did I do something wrong to upset you?” Su Miaomiao said softly as she slipped her slender arms around his neck and pressed herself against his chest.
Li Changju hadn’t expected Su Miaomiao to be so well-developed despite her young age. Murong Daidai might look impressive but was fake, while Su Miaomiao was the real deal.
She quickly caught on to his restraint, grasped his wrist, and guided his hand upward. With a weak voice, she said, “Brother Changju, my chest hurts, please blow on it for me~”
Li Changju thought in disbelief, “I’ve hidden it so well, even my gaze is restrained, yet she still picked up on it? This proves it! Inner-thoughts trope confirmed!”
No wonder their personalities suddenly shifted. They could hear his thoughts!
Su Miaomiao believed that any man’s desire couldn’t be hidden from her. Even if Brother Changju suppressed it, as long as he was a man, he couldn’t refuse her.
Li Changju hesitated, stretched out his hand, but then pulled back. He decided to test it out. “Su Miaomiao, you idiot!” he cursed in his heart.
“Hmph! I’m ignoring you now!” Su Miaomiao noticed his hesitation, puffed her cheeks in anger, buried her head in the pillow, and sulked.
Seeing this, Li Changju’s doubts were confirmed. “It’s definitely the inner-thoughts trope! From now on, I’ll have to speak less in my mind. Did I ever insult them in my thoughts before?” He carefully recalled and, finding nothing incriminating, finally sighed in relief.
“If that’s the case, then good. Completing system missions will be so much easier!” Li Changju smirked inwardly, secretly pleased.
Su Miaomiao, hearing his faint chuckle, peeked out from the pillow. Seeing his smile, she froze. “What’s with Brother Changju? Why is he suddenly smiling like that… but this smile is way too enchanting…”
“Hey, stop it, Sixth Senior Sister, where are you biting at!”
“Ah—!”
…
Two hours later.
“Damn, I’m running out of time! Even if I’ve confirmed they can hear my inner thoughts, if I fail the system mission, I’m still dead! No, I must go to Phoenix Roost Hall and coax Xiao Hongyan right away!”
Li Changju glanced at the unconscious Su Miaomiao on the bed before hurrying out and rushing toward Phoenix Roost Hall.
…
Inside Phoenix Roost Hall, Xiao Hongyan was immersed in cultivation. She had cried for half the night, then resolved to work harder for the rest of it. By the afternoon, drained of energy, she finally stopped.
“Fifth stage Hundred Convergence Realm now. I’m only one major realm behind Bai Shuyue!” Xiao Hongyan stood up, stretched her limbs, and nodded in satisfaction.
Her progress had been rapid lately. At this pace, within a year or two, she would surpass Senior Sister completely and suppress her.
“By then, I’ll reclaim everything I lost last night. I’ll crush Bai Shuyue beneath me, and right in front of her eyes… I’ll strike a heavy blow against little Changju!”
As the image surfaced in her mind, Xiao Hongyan’s blood boiled with excitement.
