After Transmigration, I Traded a Coin for a Peerless Wife and Conquered the Chaotic World - Chapter 6:
Chapter 6: Did My Husband Kiss Me?
Lin Feng’s sleeping posture was terrible—he rolled left and right, clutching the bedding, half of which had already fallen off him. Seeing this, He Caiwei instinctively picked up the quilt’s corner and gently covered him again.
Just as she moved, Lin Feng’s eyes suddenly opened slightly, and a breathtakingly handsome face entered her view.
“Dear wife,” Lin Feng called softly.
The sudden tenderness in his voice made He Caiwei’s heart quiver. She looked at him, and their eyes met.
In that instant, it was as if even the breeze outside the window paused, all just to prolong this moment of beauty.
“You’re awake too?” He Caiwei blinked, playfully and sweetly.
“Awake… and feeling an urge to tease my dear wife a little,” Lin Feng said with a smirk. He suddenly pushed himself up, and with a smooth motion, his lips brushed against He Caiwei’s like a dragonfly skimming water.
The soft sensation of her lips rippled through him. He savored the wonderful feeling.
“Did… did my husband just kiss me?” He Caiwei’s face turned crimson, red blooming across her cheeks like ripened fruit.
Her mind went blank, but her heart stirred with countless thoughts.
“How could he just kiss me like that?”
“But I’m his dear wife… my husband can kiss me if he wants… he can even…”
The moment she reached that point in her thoughts, even she felt too shy to continue. Joy bloomed in her chest, and her blush deepened.
Already stunning, the natural flush on He Caiwei’s fair complexion made her look even more delicate and lovely.
Lin Feng, watching her reaction, couldn’t help but pull her into his arms.
The two fell together into the bedding.
Just as his hand reached over, He Caiwei quickly grabbed it.
Lin Feng frowned slightly. He Caiwei whispered, “Husband… it’s daytime. What if someone comes…?”
“Let’s wait until tonight, alright?” Her voice was faint, like a mosquito. She lowered her head and didn’t dare meet his gaze. “Please, dear husband.”
As if guided by feminine instinct, she rested her cheek against Lin Feng’s bare chest, which had been exposed during his movement.
Their skin touched. Warmth spread between them, but instead of arousing further desire, Lin Feng’s heart slowly calmed.
Her delicate and soft appearance did stir his desire to possess her, but he still preferred to respect her.
They held each other tightly.
Lin Feng gently supported her back and rested against her ear for a while before they slowly pulled apart.
“There’s no need to rush, dear husband. I’m already your wife. For one day, and for a lifetime.” With that moment of intimacy between body and soul, He Caiwei became much closer to Lin Feng. She clung to his arm like a spoiled girl and said sweetly, “My husband, with such a beautiful wife like me, if you don’t ‘devour’ me soon, how will you feel at ease?”
Lin Feng chuckled and gently stroked her soft cheek. “You’re just trying to coax me with those sweet words. You must’ve practiced them before. You’re not a good girl.”
Blushing, He Caiwei pouted and playfully scolded him while walking over to the kitchen with small steps.
Lin Feng helped her with the preparations. Smoke curled up from the stove.
Before long, a simple breakfast of porridge and side dishes was ready. The two sat together and ate.
“Husband, do you think that man from last night suspects you?” He Caiwei asked with concern.
Lin Feng looked at her and replied calmly, “It’s nothing serious. In the army, your husband is known as a useless joke. Not just him—no one would suspect me.”
He Caiwei pouted, nodded at first, then said with displeasure, “You’re not useless at all. You’re the most amazing man in the world!”
“Alright,” Lin Feng said with a smile.
After finishing breakfast, Lin Feng tidied up the house a bit.
In the past, when he lived alone, he didn’t care how messy things were. But now that there was a lady of the house, it needed to look like a real home.
Once everything was mostly in order, He Caiwei clapped her hands happily, walked over to Lin Feng, and said, “Husband, we’re missing a few things at home. Let’s go into town and buy them.”
“Alright.”
Lin Feng smiled and agreed. He led the old horse out into the courtyard and hitched it to the cart.
While He Caiwei dressed and prepared, Lin Feng stood outside as usual, greeting the neighbors with a smile and casual chatter.
Most of them were frontier army soldiers. Some were lucky, others not, but all had been drafted here one way or another.
“Aunt Second, scolding your kids again? It hasn’t even rained yet today!”
“Brother Zhang, since war’s about to start here in Yan Pass, if you can hunt more game in the mountains, better store it. Don’t bother selling it in the city—it’s not worth much.”
Many people responded.
“You rascal, just worry about yourself. When the fighting starts, surviving is your first priority.”
“I heard the officer gave you all wives yesterday. Settling down young is a good thing. Having a wife keeps you grounded.”
As far as Lin Feng remembered, he had a decent relationship with his neighbors—at least enough to be cordial.
Just then, He Caiwei stepped out from the house.
Naturally, Lin Feng introduced her to everyone. “Come here, dear wife.”
“This is Aunt Second.”
“This is Brother Zhang.”
“And this guy—he’s really something. One of the few carpenters around here. The cart frame in our yard? He made it. Cost me quite a bit of silver.”
Lin Feng chuckled as he spoke.
“Aunt Second, Brother Zhang, Master Liu.” As Lin Feng introduced them one by one, He Caiwei followed along, greeting each person with a sweet smile, making Lin Feng feel incredibly proud.
At first, the neighbors all thought Lin Feng had struck gold and even praised him.
“Lin Feng, you lucky dog. Such a beautiful wife!”
But then someone noticed He Caiwei’s eyes—her heterochromia, where the brown-black pupils were ringed with a faint blue.
The warmth on the neighbors’ faces vanished instantly, and the laughter died. No one spoke again.
Some who were closer to Lin Feng even tried to warn him, “Lin Feng, did someone trick you? That’s heterochromia. If she curses you to death one day, you’ll regret it.”
“Brother Zhang, you believe in that stuff too? If people with heterochromia were really cursed, the emperor of the Great Zhou Empire would’ve said something by now. And our officer—would he just let it slide?”
“You think they’d sit back and watch people die?”
Seeing Lin Feng unmoved, the neighbors didn’t argue further and all returned indoors.
The previously lively atmosphere instantly became quiet.
Lin Feng wasn’t bothered, but he gave He Caiwei a guilty look.
“Husband, let’s go!” He Caiwei didn’t seem to care at all. She smiled sweetly, grabbed his hand tightly, and walked toward the cart.
“Alright.”
Seeing she wasn’t affected, Lin Feng didn’t feel like dwelling on it either.
In his heart, he silently swore that one day, when he got promoted to Decurion or even Centurion, whoever wanted this thatched hut could have it.
After marrying such a beautiful wife, how could he not give her a proper three-courtyard mansion?
Lin Feng pulled the reins, guiding the cart as he took his wife into town.
But just after the two had left, a sneaky figure quietly appeared at the entrance of the small courtyard…
