Xu Yan’s beautiful face froze slightly. She hadn’t expected it either. The increase that the dog man mentioned turned out to be a daily surge! Though she was unwilling to admit it, she had to confess to herself that this dog man was truly impressive.

Xu Yan replied calmly, “That’s normal.”

Zheng Yiyi followed up, “Is it from the man you’re seeking revenge on?”

Xu Yan hesitated for a moment, then admitted, “Yes.”

“Wow, aren’t you giving him a bit too much credit? These projects must have earned at least a hundred million yuan, right?” Zheng Yiyi teased.

Cough! Xu Yan choked on her coffee, coughing violently. After a few seconds, her face flushed as she replied, “Giving him credit? Impossible!”

Zheng Yiyi laughed, “Why is it impossible? Also, it’s the first time I’ve seen you react to a man so intensely.”

Xu Yan replied, “I’m just irritated.”

Zheng Yiyi pressed on, “Would you get this mad at other men?”

Xu Yan froze for a moment. It seemed… she wouldn’t? Many men had chased her since elementary school, but she had never cared about them. She couldn’t even remember what they looked like, let alone get angry over them.

Zheng Yiyi got even more excited, “See? Not answering means you’re admitting it! This person is special to you!”

Xu Yan panicked. “I’m going back to work.”

“Xu Yan! You admitted it! Wow! This is really a first! You actually think a man is special?!” Zheng Yiyi teased relentlessly.

Xu Yan gritted her teeth in frustration. Her slender fingers tapped furiously on the screen. “He’s special, alright. Especially annoying!”

Zheng Yiyi laughed, “Love big brothers are annoying, I understand.”

Love big brother? Seeing these three words, Xu Yan bit her rosy lips and touched her delicate, snow-white neck, feeling a wave of panic.

After hesitating for a while, she gritted her teeth and replied, “There’s absolutely no possibility of that kind of relationship between us! He’s just plain annoying!”

“Is he handsome?” Zheng Yiyi pressed.

Xu Yan hesitated, then reluctantly admitted, “A little bit.”

She really didn’t want to acknowledge that the dog man was handsome, but she couldn’t deny it either. Still, only a little bit!

“Does he have a good figure?” Zheng Yiyi asked next.

Xu Yan, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, quickly replied, “I don’t know! How would I know if he has muscles?”

Zheng Yiyi sent back a question mark. “I meant his height and leg length. Who asked about his muscles? You’re overthinking.”

Xu Yan’s ears turned bright red. “This person is extremely hateful. I don’t have the kind of relationship you’re imagining with him, so shut up.”

“Really? You two have nothing going on?” Zheng Yiyi teased.

“Really not!”

“Okay, if I buy Kelan Pharmaceuticals now, can I still make money?” Zheng Yiyi asked.

“You can, sell it at Friday’s closing. It’s inside information, no leaks,” Xu Yan replied.

“Understood.”

Putting down her phone, Xu Yan let out a long breath and licked her dry lips. “Time to work.”

She forced herself to calm down and focus on the documents in front of her. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t shake off the unease Zheng Yiyi had stirred in her.

At noon, Lu Fei finished his work on time.

“Want to go downstairs for lunch?” Zhou Song invited warmly.

Lu Fei nodded, “Let’s go for something light, a salad.”

“Sure.”

They went downstairs to a light food restaurant. Lu Fei ordered a grain salad for 40 yuan, while Zhou Song ordered two sandwiches for 30 yuan. As they waited for their meals, Zhou Song asked, “How’s your cat doing?”

“Very well. Healthy. And for once, it didn’t disappear this morning,” Lu Fei replied with a smile.

Zhou Song sighed, “Honestly, if you put as much energy into chasing President Xu as you do into raising your cat, things might change.”

Lu Fei chuckled, “Still not giving up on that?”

“Try it. I’ll treat you to hot pot if you do.”

Lu Fei shook his head. “Not interested.”

“Why not?”

“She doesn’t seem very smart.”

“What?”

“When she was in that meeting the other day, she got distracted thinking about her dog.”

Zhou Song was a little surprised. “You mean President Xu? No way. She took enough credits early and finished her degree.”

“High education doesn’t mean smart,” Lu Fei said calmly.

Zhou Song thought for a moment and explained, “Everyone gets distracted sometimes. Maybe President Xu really loves her dog.”

Lu Fei clicked his tongue twice. “Anyway, what she did doesn’t seem like something a smart person would do.”

“Smart or not, President Xu is still beautiful. You should try chasing her. You won’t lose anything.”

Lu Fei shook his head again. “My chances of successfully chasing her are the same as my cat turning into a beautiful woman and lying beside me in the morning. Both are impossible, so why waste time?”

As they chatted, the waiter brought their meals. Lu Fei lowered his head to eat. Zhou Song didn’t say much more. He felt Lu Fei had a chance, but he wasn’t going to push him.

After eating, the two returned to the company. Someone sent a message to the company group chat: “Did you hear? Our company bought shares of Kelan Pharmaceuticals today! We made a profit!”

Lu Fei was a bit surprised. “We bought Kelan Pharmaceuticals?”

Zhang Yu replied, “Yes!”

Lu Fei smiled. “Impressive. The person Xu found really has some skills.”
