Villain: You Want Me to Follow the Plot and Die? I’m Done Pretending - Chapter 58:
Chapter 58: Xiao Liu, You’re the Best:
“Senior Brother!”
Tears welled up in Bai Yuxiao’s blood-red eyes as he forced his exhausted body to crawl forward. Dark demonic patterns were deeply etched into his skin, embedded in his very flesh.
As Gu Feng opened his eyes, he sensed immediately that something was wrong.
He had only been in a brief conversation with the Heavenly Dao’s consciousness, but… what on earth had happened here?
And this Second Junior Brother of his…
Bai Yuxiao looked like he had just gone through some sort of drastic transformation—now he looked like a total delinquent with those demonic tattoos. Ah, demonic patterns… how familiar.
Gu Feng scanned the array beneath him. “Junior Brother, were you planning on sending me straight to the afterlife?”
Blood from countless people continued to pool into the array, and he realized that if he had awakened even a moment later, his body might have been completely corrupted.
Gu Feng pressed his pale fingers onto the platform, shattering it inch by inch and disrupting the massive array along with it. The piercing noise finally ceased, leaving only the metallic tang of blood in the air.
“Senior Brother, I…” Bai Yuxiao lowered his head, looking like a child caught doing something wrong. But deep down, he was convinced that the array was the very thing that had saved his Senior Brother.
“Enough. Let’s clean up this mess.” Gu Feng sighed, rubbing his temple.
With a casual wave of his hand, every conscious cultivator nearby collapsed, and even the outer Zhengyuan Sect disciples fell where they stood.
Inside the mountain cave, Liu Zonglin let out a long sigh as the noise died down, a chill running through him. From this day forward, Zhengyuan Sect would likely carry the stigma of colluding with demons. With a heavy heart, he closed his eyes.
“Master, you really went to great lengths this time.”
With a thud, Gu Feng tossed Bai Yuxiao onto the floor in front of Liu Zonglin and the other elders. He stood there in black robes, looking as cold and detached as ever.
“Gu Feng, you’re awake!” Liu Fengqing exclaimed, instinctively moving toward Bai Yuxiao on the ground. He quickly reassured himself that all was well. As long as Gu Feng had awakened, that was all that mattered.
But Liu Zonglin, understanding Gu Feng’s words, let out a bitter chuckle. “As if I had a choice.”
“You really have no limits,” Gu Feng muttered, massaging his eyebrow.
While carrying Bai Yuxiao up the mountain, Gu Feng had learned from the system what had happened. Apparently, after he had intercepted Liu Zonglin’s tribulation lightning, he had fallen into a coma, his mind completely sealed off—even the system couldn’t reach him. For 10 long years, his life force had gradually weakened, and as his end drew near, Bai Yuxiao had concocted a desperate plan.
With the sect elders’ consent, and coaxed by the demons, Bai Yuxiao, that foolish kid…
“Don’t tell me you think I woke up because of that broken array!” Gu Feng eyed Bai Yuxiao, who looked every bit the disheveled mess, wrapped in hastily imprinted demonic patterns.
Despite his foolishness, Gu Feng couldn’t help but feel a pang of gratitude. “I woke up on my own, right on time. And by the way, no one else has died yet,” he added, waving a hand. “Now, let’s deal with the aftermath.”
Even he hadn’t expected such a dramatic misunderstanding. Bai Yuxiao, still on the ground, looked dazed.
“So… even if I hadn’t activated the array, Senior Brother, you would have woken up now anyway?”
“Yes, and if it weren’t for the noise, I might’ve slept a bit longer.” Gu Feng shot him a glare. “I’ll help you cleanse that demonic energy. Stop with the theatrics already.”
With the Heavenly Dao backing him, Gu Feng didn’t have to be cautious anymore. He set about erasing everyone’s memory of today’s events.
[Host, this kind of action could draw the Heavenly Dao’s attention.] The system warned. Since Gu Feng had awoken, the system had sensed a slight change in him.
“Oh,” Gu Feng replied, completely unfazed. “So what if it notices? I already drew its attention when I took Master’s lightning tribulation. Nothing to lose now.” His tone was that of someone with nothing left to fear.
“Besides, with no way back, what’s the worst that could happen?”
It was all part of his act. He knew the Heavenly Dao couldn’t be opposed so easily, but it could still be appeased.
[Host, please don’t be so pessimistic! If you build up enough luck, I could still send you back.]
“Sure,” Gu Feng muttered, ignoring it.
Once everyone’s memories were erased, he organized their resting places and then returned to the mountains. Just as he reached the peak, a giant wolf leapt at him.
“Gu Feng!” The soft, warm bundle leapt into his arms, nuzzling against his neck. With white hair and twin ponytails, Xiao Liu looked just as he remembered.
“Xiao Liu, have you gained weight?” He noticed the extra heft in his arms.
She pouted, looking up at him indignantly. “I have not!”
“You’re finally awake. The last few days, Bai has smelled awful, and that mean woman came looking for you a few times. There was also this really stinky woman, but I chased them both away!” Xiao Liu beamed with pride, her eyes closed happily.
